i had driven a friends fit many times before purchasing mine, so the lack of a console, passenger arm rest was something i already knew. (working on building our own)
now that the weather has warmed up and am driving with the windows open, i realize the big side mirrors shoot exploding bugs into the front seats !

bought the car for fuel mileage and am extremely happy with that.

Found not too bad with front and rear passenger side at half way.

My first problem was learning to park back from bump stops, but the second experience couldn't be helped, high volume fast traffic, spotted truck tire tread too late to do anything but roll over, damaged bumper and knocked out the fog lights.

A/C was easy fix, tint all side and rear windows, and maximize allowable front with strip.

I don't like the fact that I found myself preferring the body style of the GD's over my GE.

- Highway driving would be soooo much better (comfort and mpg) with a 6 speed gearbox
- Honda should offer optional HIDs
- This isn't really a FIT thing since premium brands are the only ones that really do it, but it's the 21st century - every car should have auto up/down window switches all around

If I have the back windows all the way down and the front all the way up the buffeting hurts my ears. Feels like a drummer is pounding on my ear drums. Also Quickly makes it impossible to hear anything.

Opening up one of the front windows even a little bit seems to make it much better. I usually just do the front windows now.

What sucks about my 2012 fit sport is the A/C, also no moonroof, sun visors are too short and useless. I average around 34mpg but I put a roof rack and carried some stuff from Vegas to California on the roof and was lucky to barely get 25 mpg. Also hate that my car is a magnet for douchebags to ding my doors and scratch the paint job.

I am going to have to agree. After my first 85+ degree day as a Fit owner I can attest to the cars inadequate air conditioner. It keeps you comfortable in the front (not sure about people in the back) but you have to crank it and leave it on the whole time you are in the car. You'll never turn it off because it gets too cold inside.

weak AC? i think its pretty strong. last trip to the desert, it was only 100 degrees or so, but i got to a point where i had to turn the dial down to 2 on the freeway. mine is white and lightly tinted, though, so it helps.

must be humidity factors? it was 107 in Tucson the other day (10% humidity) and our A/C felt fine...dont have to run full cold and full blast either

could be better but not a complaint for us

On my MT 2013 Fit, I constantly bump my hand on the vent control knob when I raise my hand away from the shift knob. Anyone experience this too or am I a bull in a china shop?

Now that I've had my '07 Sport more than two years and 30,000 miles, here's my wish list:

1) Longer 5th gear, engine way too busy and inefficient at speeds of 75mph and up. 4000+ rpm makes no sense. I'm thinking of going to the largest diameter tires I can install without rubbing. If longer gears were available, I'd take the transmission apart and install longer 4th and 5th.
2) AM radio reception sucks, goes crazy with static near high tension electric wires- my other cars don't do this!
3) Takes FOREVER to fill the gas tank. Factory manual says it holds 10.8 US gallons, I put about 12.5 gallons in but it takes several frustrating minutes of patient trickling it in to avoid foaming and overflow problems. Gas gauge is nowhere near linear. Takes forever to drop down from just above full. Takes no time at all to go from 1/8 to empty.
4) Front floor bulges make it impossible on long trips to change your foot position while on cruise control to relax your legs by bending them
5) Seats don't have enough bottom padding (yeah, I'm skinny assed)
6) Intermittent wipers are not variable like the ones in my previous cheapie Ford Escort
7) Battery is just too darn tiny and too little reserve cranking power for cold winter starts
8) Factory alloy wheels don't hold up to road salt, they are corroding badly especially where they mate up with the steel hubs. Next winter going with extra set of steel wheels just purchased and snow tires.
9) Cannot turn just the fog lights on, must have low beams on also.
10) Radio dial can't be seen in daytime if you turn headlights on for safety on 2 lane highways because Honda thinks it's night and you want dim radio
11) Maintenance minder is a pain to keep resetting when you use synthetic motor oil which only needs changing every 15-20.000 miles.
12) Honda's proprietary wiper blades don't wipe as well as cheap Anco from Walmart and Honda's are much harder to replace.
13) Headlamp lenses get very yellowed and cloudy, shortly after you polish them and get 'em looking nice and clear.
14) Dome and cargo lamps are a joke, a kerosene lantern is brighter. Switched to Chinese LED's costing under $5 each and it's about 5 times brighter and will last longer than the car.
15) A/C leaves something to be desired on really hot, humid (ie. 80% RH and up) days, even after replacing a dirty cabin air filter...and by the way, the owner's manual doesn't list "cabin air filter", Honda likes to be different and call it a "dust and pollen filter".
16) No map or glove box lights, many other economy cars have them.
17) Why does Honda complicate things by spending more money to put TWO lights on the instrument panel to tell you Cruise is on? Others use just one, that's all I need to remind me I'm on Cruise.
18) Center arm rests would be nice on long trips.
19) Intermittent rear wiper would be nice.
20) Cost me $125 to buy and have programmed a second ignition key. This car is not likely to be stolen, it's probably last on the list for neighborhood gang members to steal for a joyride. A regular key costing a couple bucks would start the car just fine.
21) The indicator marks on the fan controls can't be seen in low light. I used white nail polish to tell me which direction they are pointing, such as fan speed 1, 2, 3 or 4.

In spite of all these opportunities for improvement, I love this car. It's economical, incredibly utilitarian and the 5 speed MT is lots of fun to drive.
I'd buy it all over again.

my fit is ge8, and what i don't like about it is everytime i wash my car, there will be water dripping from the mirror (stand ? the part that holds mirror cap onto the body ), i believe GD3 is the same, or maybe every car ? i just fell uncomfortable to vacuum all that water out of it everytime.

- Not-so-smooth transmission for AT, i know..it's not cvt but...
- weak paint/poor quality
- the hiss sound after using the car

When the pump clicks off it's time to stop filling. Going once more to the next click is probably fine but trickling in 1.5 gallons extra is almost guaranteed to be putting gas into the evaporative emissions system damaging your emissions controls.

Keys are expensive but don't two come with the car?

Yes, I've read about the evaporative charcoal cannister issue, but the adsorptive process of hydrocarbons going into and out of the cannister's activated charcoal is completely reversible. It's a closed system, I don't see why any harm could be done. Fuel that's in there, whether vapor or liquid, gets burned eventually. Sorry but I think this cannister issue is an "urban myth". I've been completely filling the car since buying it used in 2011 and the fuel economy has remained stable at around 36-38mpg with mixed city and highway driving. I get 43mpg at constant 60mph highway and four people aboard. What's to complain about?

I completely fill the tank for two reasons. You get more accurate gas mileage calculations (we write it down on a card every fillup) plus it means we stop for gas less often. Don't see a problem here, am I missing something?

Good question about the expensive keys. Yes, you get two keys if you buy a new car. Bought this 2007 in 2011 as mentioned above. The dealer only had one key, he said that's quite common with used cars. The owner drives to a dealer shopping for a new car. They don't plan to buy one right away, but get offered a deal they accept on the spot and they only had the one key. Dealer says "that's ok, just stop by sometime with the other key" but most people never get around to it
