And you blame the car for that?
Had been driving a new 2010 FIT Sports A/T since Aug 2010. What bugs me are:-
1) Engine noise at higher gears on higher rev like climbing uphill or passing
2) Engine fan noise kicks in and out very frequently when I switch on the heater fan or air-con fan
3) A-pillar blind spot
Other than that, FIT is great!, sip gas, easy to park, easy to wash, huge cargo hauler, can be transformed to a mini mini van, fold up magic seats and place crates to store groceries/shopping bags via back passenger door without the need use the trunk space. - tinted back windows.
Regarding the idea of creating space by folding up magic seats, I heard it all started after Japanese FIT engineers spent hours at mall car parks observing the behavior of shoppers coming out with shopping bags.. most of them store their stuff on back seats of their vehicles and less shoppers bothers to open their trunks. I am one of those who fit into that type of back seat behavour.

-The engine/exterior noise while driving on the freeway. (probably from all the glass that's on the car)
-The "sway" the Fit has at freeway speeds.
-Cheap paint and glass.
-You can open the gas tank by pushing on it. I really hope nobody puts something bad into my gas tank.
Besides that I love my Fit to death.

Yes it would & you can get those stick ons for like maybe a dollar at Wal-mart, because I had a wreck because of a blind spot> I put them on both sides too.
I've had a '95 Accord LX since I first started driving seven years ago. My current job is an hour and a half away and with my Accord on its "last legs" (only 165K... I feel like there's still life left, but my family disagrees) I made the switch to a Fit. Just purchased a brand new '10 Sport last week and am forcing myself to get used to the changes...
My biggest gripes right now are all the blindspots (so nerve wracking!!), how dim my headlights are, and my options for a cargo cover. I'm jealous of my friend's Golf which has a pull-out cover. Is the only option from Honda really that piece of black cardboard that sits on top? Come on!
As for the headlights, can anyone comment on having obsenely dim ones? I'm pretty sure my Accord's are dim, too, but driving home at night on the highway all the cars around me make it seem like mine aren't even on... I don't get it...
I guess I just need to get used to the blind spots...
Smaller gripes are just the comforts of my old car. I'll miss the moonroof, leather seats, and electric seat adjustment... but that's minor stuff.
All in all though, I love what someone above said--the "mini mini van" feel. In film school my Accord was absolutely ABUSED for hauling around equipment... if only I had these magic seats back then!!

The Fit's headlights have been more or less universally panned.
ConsumerReports: "The headlights' low beams give insufficient forward illumination. The high beams project farther but are dimmer close in"
They don't seem that much dimmer than the ones in my Element were:
Oh... wait: "Low-beam headlights do not reach out far enough, but the high beams reached an excellent distance."
I hate these single headlights - I prefer quad headlights, with lowbeams that stay on with the highs. At the very least the fogs could turn on with the highs for extra low illumination.

Hrmph.
Have you (or anyone else for that matter) done anything about it?
I adjusted mine higher and they are good for 100+ MPH runs on dark tree lined road with hills, curves, wild hogs and deer..... I almost hit a huge Owl a few nights ago that wanted to play chicken... He almost won too.... Mines an older model GD-3 but there is sure to be a thread on adjusting the headlights on a GE model if you do a search.

As your car is brand new, if I am in your shoes, I would suggest driving back to the dealership in the evening, just before they close so that it will be dark outside and ask them to test and compare the headlights of your FIT with the headlights brightness of their show room FIT side by side and see if there is any difference. There may be a slim chance of an electrical leakage.
I experienced the effects of electrical leakage in my old Accord. The headlights were really dim until I changed my alarm system and yanked out the old faulty alarm system. When I drove home that night, my headlights brightness were night and day compared to when my old car alarm was in place. It was almost twice as bright as when my old alarm system was in place. This made me think and conclude that my old alarm in the Accord may be the culprit causing some electrical leakage, sucking some juice from the headlights... my personal experience.. this may or may not apply to your FIT but may be worth a check with your dealership... nothing to loose correct?
1) interior noise !!!
2) stupid long "Pinocchio" radio antennae
3) the '09 base "incomplete" front bumper (honda needs to put something like
a mesh on it)
4) Dealer did NOT give floormats !!!!
5) headlight. low beam is not far enough, especially when i went to san francisco
this thanksgiving, hard to see the road ahead at nite!!!
6) GAS filler....hope nobody puts something there (fingers cross)

Phenoyz, regarding the annoying unlockable stock Gas cap, I changed it out with a Honda Element lockable gas cap (CAD $50) on day one. I guess $50 is a good investment for me to guard against some sour grapes idiots trying to pour sugar into my gas tank. I bought the Honda Element gas cap from the same dealership I bought my FIT from. That way, if the replacement gas cap causes any problems, my warranty will not be jeopardized

thanks will go to dealer....i live in las vegas...its OK if they put money
not sand....
At the risk of sounding like I'm n00bing you.....are they actually turned on? With the dash being always lit up, you can forget to turn the headlights on (especially if you had auto lights in a previous car!) and then you'd just be using the DRLs.

How dim are we talking? My lights tend to blend into the surroundings a bit in lit areas, but it's fine on the dark rural roads around my house.
Finally, you can try replacing the bulbs with any number of higher output bulbs at the same wattage -- here's one thread for example: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...k-warning.html
Sorry, I have no idea which year model of Honda element this belongs to.
How I approached the dealer was I did not state what brand of gas cap I wanted as I would like the dealer to be responsible (I was playing hard ass).. what I said to the dealer was..... I bought this FIT brand new from you, can you please recommend a compatible lockable gas cap that WILL WORK, and will not cause problems like gas build-up etc.
This way, if the car catches fire due to fuel leakage etc... I can argue that this is authorized by a certified Honda Dealer. I know I can buy a similar lockable gas cap from third party shops at half price but I feel justified in paying $25 more by having a honda dealer backing me up if I run into problems because this involves highly flammable gas... They recommended Honda Element lockable gas cap because they had experienced it worked on other FITs.
Don't get me wrong... I looked for good bargains as well ....if I am installing "harmless parts" like , floor mats...which I will readily buy from walmart. After my 3 years Honda warranty is over, than it will be a different story.. can pretty much do all the mods I want... no warranty validity to worry about
Anyway, do check out this thread about gas cap as well.. may provide you with more info
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...g-gas-cap.html
Hope his helps.. good luck
Ric
