I'm with Steve on the heater.. I've noticed it a lot this winter with the early morning temps being anywhere from 10-20f when I leave for work. I installed a remote starter and let it run for 5-10 mins before I head out. I also leave the defrost on full when I park it after work every day. The frost on the windshield is never melted more than 1/5 of the way up from the bottom. I usually just head out anyway, and it's clear by the time I reach the freeway. At which point I switch the selector to defrost and floor.. however, it still blows cool air out for at least a mile or two.
Had a remote start with my previous car as well (not a Honda) and had the same morning routine.. it always worked perfectly. The car before that didn't have remote start (also not a Honda), but I would run out and start it (kept the starting key in the car under the mat, and one in my pocket, so I could lock it while running unattended) and it would be warm and 100% defrosted within 7-8 minutes while I made coffee.
I'm not complaining, the cold really doesn't bother me much.. just mentioning that I've noticed it as well. The heater definitely seems weaker/slower to warm up than any other car I've owned. It's not enough to make me want a different car.. I love my Fit. It's a 2019 EX, and I'm kinda bummed they aren't going to keep making them.
Toyota tundra heater problems are a common topic.
And some speculate "cheap cars get cheap heater cores", also.
There's a reason or two why F-150s are so popular:
Great heat
Good ground clearance
Love those intermittent wipers!
No stupid moon roof problems.
Japan, in my experience, has poor execution of heat management. My Kawasaki ZX12 would immediately run its fan when I came to a stop.
So...no more Japanese motor vehicles for me.
WTF, comparing a Ford F-150 pick-up truck to a subcompact car? What Forum is this fellow in? Sort of like comparing tigers to sea slugs.
Ford Pick-Up trucks:
- Get lousy gas mileage, what, about 21 mpg hwy/17 city (?)
- More finite oil and coal based energy to produce
- Use more plastic, - read using more finite supplies of oil
- Use more rubber, synthetic included, Refer to above comments
- Use more Steel/Iron, even with recycled materials and use more energy to produce. Is there a common theme here?
- Most F-150 sold are 4 door, 4WD, AT. Refer to above comments
- Ford statistically issues more recalls than Honda
If one drives on asphalt/concrete roads, then ground clearance should not be a problem. Yes, one has to be careful in steeply sloped driveways/parking lot access points. Potholes? And if snow is an issue, the sum total all State DOTs maintain one should not be out driving the roads when covered with 6" of snow. Potholes? Even Ford F-150 trucks can be swallowed by these urban sinkholes. try driving in NYC or any major U.S. city that gets snow/ice.
I hear word on the street is the Fit is due a facelift and re-design and re-introduction. Steve, if that is so, I would encourage you to check these out - you may be pleasantly surprised. Again, if the rumor is true, you could consider selling your finite energy wasting F-150 to the only real people who need pick-up trucks: The Tradesmen and Farmers of America.
I think Steve was comparing it to the Tundra. I've no idea becaue I never had a truck.
The new Fit is still pretty fresh, I think it came out like a year ago? I doubt it'll have any major changes soon, or that it'll be sold in the US. By all accounts it's very nice but it's a small car that's pretty expensive at a time when everyone wants SUVs.
Perhaps this 2015 fit was for warmer climates, but it's in the Midwest now. And the way I get adequate heat is to clamp the upper radiator hose.
I clamped it and left it. No problem in the summer.
Pretty much, I hate this car.

...and I love this car. I bought it 'cause it was the cheapest car with the highest MPG and didn't have any expectations to live the EX-L lifestyle in an LX world. I measure all cars in # of Fits (in cost). The other car I loved was the Cruze hatchback in Diesel flavor - it was 1.7 Fits out the door and used $4/gal fuel - not worth it. My neighbor just bought a 328 xit (wagon) for $47000 - that's almost 3 Fits.
I'm keeping this car - it gets me from a to zed for a low cost and I put 48-55 miles a day with her.
and I live in New England. I've only got stuck once - it was in a parking lot spot that sloped down and we had an ice storm. A fellow traveller with a truck pulled me out of the spot and I bought him a few beers at the Ski Lodge later that day. I smile at the pump everytime I fill up: 42 mpg - except at break-in.
Those waves are really temperature related - the peaks are summer and valleys are Winter on the blue y-axis plot. 2019 LX cuml mileage
^^^ I hear you. All summer I get 40-42 mpg. Once winter sets in...it's down to 38 or less mpg.
I'm not complaining one bit. The thing will haul almost anything a pick-up will and it's fun to drive.

+1
Despite the FIT's downsides, it's upsides are really what makes it worthwile.
Mind you, if I had to drive it daily or do long hauls with something, it certainly wouldn't be the FIT.
Most of the downsides I find are downsides of a small, cheap car. Also a 20 year old car in my case.
It's wouldn't even be bad for highway if it were a bit quieter. I complained about this before but absolutely randomly youtube just recommended me this video where a guy installs extra sound deadening into a Fit:

Yeah the season makes a big difference, I'm down to about 7l/100km from 5.5 or so in the summer. But also there are less long trips so that has an impact as well.
i just remembered another thing i don't like about the fit.
i don't like the place for change on the left bottom side of the steering wheel. whenever i go fast up a hill or something it all flies out onto me and the floor.
Huh? I'm looking for this "change place" and I can't find it.

I don't know about the Fit, mine doesn't have it, but some cars have little cubbies in the dashboard where you can store coins or other small objects. So I'm guessing one of the models has something like this:
