Most effective would be to apply it on the engine side, NOT the cabin side

I didn't say to use that material. It's obviously not intended to be placed next to the engine.
This is why auto manufacturers use alum insulation panels OUTSIDE the cabin to reduce NVH.

Engine side has already some kind of of sound deadening there. I looked! But it would be silly to rip the dash out. I would just put a k24 which sounds heavenly. The stock NA engine sounds like it's harsh and screaming on top of it's lungs lol.

Thumbs down What I hate...

What I hate about my '12 5MT (Did buy it in' 20 with 98k miles)
1) " flocked " carpeting
2) The f'd up owner's manual guide to disable the autolocking feature when I turn off the igntion. Is this some kind of rocket science? 3 motorheads in my family could't figure it out.
3) No sixth gear - gotta love those RPMs at 75mph.
4) The leaky rear hatch seal - what is it with those rear hatch seals?
5) Why does Honda never include adjustable windshield wiper speed in their cheaper cars?
6) Not made for tall folks. I'm 6' 5", had to have re-fabricated seat rails installed so i can actually drive it comfortably.

wth is 'flocked carpeting'?
I like the gearing on mine...it Fits my driving style exactly right.
250K miles and my rear hatch has never leaked.
Never bothered me about the ww speed. It just seems to Fit right.

Ah, contentment...

"Flocking" is the process of blowing any kind of loose fibrous material onto a surface already prepared with glue. If you had a G.I. Joe in the early to mid 1970's he may have had flocked hair and beard.
It's used to create a soft inner lining to various small cases for jewelty, etc. AND cheap Honda Fit "carpeting"

Ah,contentment... Steve 37 is totally content with the gearing and the windshield wiper speeds, and his intact rear hatch seal which has not leaked all the way to 250K miles.

What a lucky guy!

Let's make this clear: I really love my FIT... the magic rear seat, the peppy performance, the tight turning radius, the tight feel on the road, the many nooks and crannyys to store things, the double glove comparment, etc, etc, etc.

Base model doesn't have cruise control. I drive 275 miles a day for work and this sucks. I didn't even check when I test drove the car because I'm so used to cars coming with it by default. Also no aux port, I currently use a bluetooth speaker bungee corded to the passenger headrest for music and audiobooks right now. Other than those two things I love it. Coming from a 2012 Civic Si.

Which Fit do you have? You can usually retrofit cruise control into throttle by wire cars pretty easily. Aslo there's a pretty easy way to add bluetooth to the factory stereo, or at least some of them.

Basic cruise control and variable speed wipers should be mandatory on every car sold.

But I think a lot of people would rather save a few hundred bucks and do without cruise control. I'm not one of them, but isn't the idea of a base model to appeal to people on a lower budget?

(Agreed about the variable speed wipers though.)

Car companies don't want to sell base models. They exist to allow the company to advertise a low price so that they can get you into a show room where the salesmen can move you up to the more expensive models. I don't know how many base model Fits were made in a normal year but I'll bet it wasn't very many. Any salesman who sells a base model should be fired if he doesn't smarten up. As for cruise control itself, with the car so computerized as it is, tapping into that capability to add cruise control can't cost much. If a buyer is on a very tight budget, well, that's what used cars are for.

If i could give you mine, I would

My Fit doesn't get used on the highway, as it's a city-only car.
I like the rest of the options (sunroof, bluetooth etc), but cruise is really not needed, nor used.

I'll never buy another honda

This was a certified used Honda directly from dealership.

Heater is pathetic.
Moon roof needs its fuse pulled, to avoid opening it.
Manual doesn't state the fuse form factor.
No clues on how Honda expects the fuses under the dash, adjacent steering column, to be changed.
There's a fuse map next to those fuses, but it's upside down.
No explanation in manual of those chimes, alerts.
Stupid automatic window feature.
Ground clearance isn't much.
So-called intermittent wipers are a weekly irritation.

You need to drive it harder.
Once you do, you'll feel the heat
