Gas mileage
Wow that seems low! My worst tank thus far has been 32.6 and that was after spending 40 minutes to go 3 miles in traffic on a road trip loaded with luggage
best tank was 37.8 (on the way down on the same road trip - without the traffic jam)

Got so bad for him, he had to buy a Corolla (didn't know about the Fit) to save on gas, and the guy's about 6 feet, 250 pounds!I'll take a picture of the street to show everyone here what I have to deal with everyday.
well ive had the car for a lil over 2 weeks and just a shade under 2,000 miles now.....
my gas started crappy and now im pulling consistant 31 mpg per tank. this is at 80 miles per day just for work and back....drive the 57 freeway in So Cal....for those that know this is a traffic freeway all day. so given that its pretty much similar to city driving its not bad now. still wanting to see if mpg go up after first oil change.

I don't have a Fit, yet. But I do have a 99 Civic EX Coupe MT (Canada's Si Coupe) with 156k miles and averages 37mpg of 80/20 HWY/CITY.
Anyone who is dissatisfied with their fuel economy should do this:
1-Find the radio security code. Open the fues box in the engine compartment and pull the "Back-up, Radio" fuse for 1 minute then re-install. Close the hood to allow car to warm up faster.
2-Start the car and let idle with 0 input or accessories/electrical load. Wait for Rad fan to start and stop 2 times. It could take upto 30 minutes, so make sure you are not in a hurry, the car is in a safe place with ventilation if you wish to leave her running.
3-Compare fuel mileage after you run thru a full tank of gas.
Again, this procedure should not hurt, it can only help you. I've been doing it for years.

just from work and back alone is 80 miles per day 5 days a week. plus whatever running aroudn and errands adds up.
First (dealer) tank, started out driving from San Antonio to Austin, then about 60% highway, 40% in traffic (distance-wise), AC on almost all the time (hey, it's Texas, in July), 29.46 MPG.
Second tank, same driving habits minus the drive from San Antonio, 27.12 MPG.
I was hoping for more, but it's better than the PT Cruiser I was driving before (under 20 MPG on that, same route).

I am averaging about 34.5 on the interstate at 70mph, but have got as high as 38.6. The key is to keep the revs low. I have been using my paddle shifters to shift sooner than the tranny would to keep the revs under 3k. I also have 38lbs in my tires. I use my car for work and travel about 4000 miles a month so I can keep you guys posted as soon as I put together a log.
Keeping revs low - I try to do that, but i just can't keep it over 60 on hills unless I allow it to downshift.... What's your strategy? You live in flat area? or do you try to speed up before hills for a "running start"?

there are big differences between the 2 vehicles, including engine, transmission, and vehicle weight. Not to mention that the testing to come up with the MPG figures is different there than here.
