I broke some welds on my legend one ( 4 years old) and never got any response from their customer service dept.

I loved the short ram until then

Factory cold air intake using crz parts?

I was looking at the crz cold air intake. It looks like it could be adapted to the fit. The first check was to see if the air filters were the same but they weren't. The dimensions look similar. Just curious if others have one it

Well, it does appear to be a better intake system than the Fit, but I'm not sure how cold the incoming air really is. I think it would be a worthwhile mod to attempt, if the cost is reasonable.

yeah, but if you look at the hood of the fit, it is pulling cold air to near the brake master cylinder, and it appears to be pulling air for the engine from there as well. The CRZ intake pulls it more directly to the intake though. I have some pictures, once I get my bearings on the forum, Ill put them up.

PRM intake issues

I purchaced an intake a few months ago, installed it without difficulties but after a few days of driving i kept getting a lean condition error. Has anyone else run into this and if so, what did you do to fix it?

ebay intake?

I just saw this the other day. I was curious if anyone has picked one up?
I had a cheap ebay one on my saturn and it worked just fine. Granted I used a K&N filter I had sitting around.

I purchased another cheap intake (cosmo short) off ebay and needed to do some major mods to make it work. The MAF sensor seat was too high so I needed to mill it down to center the sensor. I then made an insert to bring the inside diameter within tolerance (@ 2") so not to trip the engine light. It was no big deal to do with the resources I had at the time but would be for those that don't.

I would be careful before purchasing unless you can get a guarantee that they have addressed these issues.

It should, but,,,,, whenever I get a little more umph out of a motor I tend to want to push the gas pedal down further<LOL>

In general: Anytime the motor becomes more efficient, at a given rpm, it should make more power and require less push on the pedal for a given speed and a bit better gas mileage. Since the length of the intake is a factor in tuning the effect, that length is critical to the results. So if the length is 'off' for the RPM you are running that could be a negative.

A couple years ago I made my own intake and I started too long. As I shortened the intake the powerband moved upwards to where I wanted it. Probably would have gotten better gas mileage if it was slightly longer, but this was tuning for performance. The same goes for header length and cam timing. Its all tuning around what you want to achieve.

The Fit with its variable cam timing would probably love a variable length intake. Lets see, need a microcontroller, linear electric ram with a feedback loop and telescoping tubing. Oh, and a Cray supercomputer to figure it all out......

Questions For Custom GE8 Intake

Ok, so I found the Sid SSR intake thread (https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...am-intake.html) and it seems awesome for the price and easy install. It seems the only thing needed to make this system work for the GE8 is that the MAF is different from the IAT on the earlier Fits. So it seems I just need a pipe with a proper rectangular slot to fit the MAF through, such as the pipe in the K&N Typhoon kit or simply like the pipe fitting on the stock air box. If I made such a tube I would be good, right? Just attach the small breather filter to the crankcase vent hose like on the SSR? All the hose bypasses in the instructions for the K&N seem like they are just that, bypasses. They're not necessary for a simple intake right? Also I'm not looking at doing the double 90 deg pipes like in the SSR instructions, I would just keep the filter behind the battery like on the K&N.

Thanks for your help!

If you are keeping it behind the battery i would just hack up your stock airbox and reuse that section for the mafs or buy a replacement top airbox for about 25bucks and hack up that one. To make a tube yourself it is A LOT of work. I ended up doing it for mine and while it came out amazing its really not worth it in the end as far as money and time goes. I used the Spectre Mafs Adapter tube, then bought a 3" OD and 2" ID aluminum pipe which i lathed to compression fit inside the adapter tube and created a velocity stack on either end to aid in air flow. Then I cut out a rectangular section for the sensor to pass through when you install it in the spectre tube. if you really wanna go this route and have questions feel free to holler at me but i HIGHLY recommend the hack version if you dont mind the look of it.

Here is a picture of my latest revision:
(Note: I used a Silicone hose to tie back into my intake, but you can use a breather filter as well.

Sweet thanks for the response! Did NOT realize that Spectre made the MAF adapter tubes, that's brilliant. I'm going to try and get mine going using one of those and maybe an an angle piece from Autozone and a coupler/reducer if necessary. Will post some pics & info if I get it workin.

Yeah they do, but the inserts they provide are not the correct size that we need in order to NOT throw a CEL. That is the reason I had to make my own insert with an inner diameter of 2" just to let you know.

Hey Java, I have a question for you. Would you be willing to build me one if I pay you for the materials and your time?

well thats good to know. Guess on the fit its the old saying you get what you pay for. If it was just a map sensor cheaper would be do able

It looks like it has a bung for the MAF already on there- as long as it's close, a decent home toolkit should suffice for any minor mods on there. Otherwise, as long as there are the proper number (and size) of vacuum attachments, you should be good to go! Mark W.

Do your research and i say go for it if it all seems legit. Why pay almost $300 for a metal tube? If anything, change out the coolant hose just in case it's made of cheap material.
