Carbon looks good from the outside but usually the inside (where it matters) is rough reducing air flow. I think the plastic one would work better. I would be nice if they make the intake chamber using plastic more like stock OEM black matt finish plastic.

But doesn't carbon fiber reflect heat a little better than plastic?
So you could argue both points.

I wouldn't say carbon reflect heat better, the purpose of carbon is to make parts that needs to be strong lighter. Intake box doesn't need to be strong, I bet the carbon intake is about the same weight as the plastic one. If you want heat reflection, wrap the intake with thermal silver or gold foil.

Air flow speed is just as important as air temperature.

Stronger/lighter carbon parts are usually made through a dry carbon/autoclave process, the carbon seen above is wet and more than likely just overlaid on fiberglass. So any weight savings are out the window. It's all bling.

It would be nice to see an ABS plastic piece similar to what Comptech used to offer for various applications.

Both of the intakes use resin.. one is made from fiberglass and the other is car on fiber.. and they have tested the inside with one being rough and one being smooth and it did not make any difference in power... the only difference was in$$$$

No flooding here in the NorCal, so the CAI works fine for me. lol
Sucks to have to drive in flood areas.
Additionally, I'm not too sure about the air duct on the hood. The intake itself is still going to be sucking in the hot ambient air in the engine compartment.
I dunno, I don't plan on running short at all once I get the CAI.

BTW, the dyno was run with the SRI.

^^^^yeah, they just designed/released an intake for 06-Up Civic si. I wouldn't be suprised if they have plans for the fit in the future.

there already is an official intake thread for the GE.
There's nothing new to report until I get my CAI extension.

EDIT: I have a bit of time this weekend and will try to take some nice weather pics of the intake and car. I'll see about posting up some of those next week.
I may even get some video of me driving it, so you can get an idea of the sound inside.
Again... No promises.
