Finally lined the backs of my back seats and the rear cargo area with a 4'x6' rubber backed indoor/outdoor type floor mat bought from Lowes for about $25. It didn't turn out as nice as I wanted, but that was my fault because I work one handed (due to a stroke.) Had I had use of both hands I am sure it would have trimmed better and looked great. As it is it doesn't meet my desired look, but isn't too bad. It will still protect the back of the car, especially when the back seats are down. Had trouble finding grommets to mount front edge under back seat headrest posts...and couldn't find any inexpensive grommet anvils in my size. Ended up not using grommets, so the holes I punched in mat will undoubtedly tear out in time. Even so the headrests in retracted positions should hold it in place.

Did it now because tomorrow I'm going to try camping and sleeping in back.

Some random jerk hit my fit. Now there's a small 1cm dent with some paint chips. Not sure if it's paint transferred from the person's car door, or it's an actual paint chip. Either way, it makes me sad.

Unless it's a hybrid battery pack in a 10 year old Honda. Then you're stuck for $4000 worth of reconditioned battery in a 10 year old car that's not worth $4000. Which is why I'm now a Fit owner and not a 10 year old Civic Hybrid owner any longer.

BTW, I also spent $2300 on a new battery pack that was 10% over the warranty period (88k miles on an 80k warranty). After **much** argument, Honda finally agreed to meet me almost half way on it.

Lesson: not all Hondas are created equal when it comes to long term value. Admittedly not another single thing ever broke on the Civic Hybrid, but still, that's a lot of moolah to plop down at one go.

I wonder if it'd be possible to swap a standard D16Y8 or whatever was in the Civic of that ilk into that with minimal work...could be worth it.

ooohhh! Excited! I contacted a feller here in Montreal with an excellent rep for detailing cars. He uses fancy waxes and products. The best part is that he lets you in on the action as an observer. He's keen on teaching guys the right way to look after paint. I will take all kinds of before, during and after shots!

Wish me luck!

Y8 is something like 130 bhp iirc. Far from a powerhouse, but easily attainable for $1-200, $3-400 with trans haha

I changed the auto unlock settings to unlock all doors when putting the car in park instead of just the drivers. Now my daughter wont look at me like I am crazy because she has to unlock her door to get out

In my 2013 manual its on pages 86-87. I have an automatic so what I had to do (with car off and parked) turn the key to II and press and hold the unlock until I heard the locks click 2 times then let off and turn the car to I. After that you can turn it off.

You can also change the doors to lock when you take it out of park instead of when you hit 10MPH. You do the same as above but hold unlock instead of lock.

EDIT:
With a manual you just have to pull the parking brake and do the above.

are you holding the unlock on the door or on your keyfob?

you also say you hit unlock twice... is it unlock for the first feature you posted and lock for the second feature (lock immediately after going out of park)

You don't press unlock twice you hold the button on the door down til you hear the lock unlock twice. I will scan the pages and post them. Might make this easier?

^^^ cool, thanks! will give this a shot later today.

im always annoyed by the manual UNLOCK to let my family out of the car. and 99.999999999999999999999999999994% of the time, i am in a safe place so dont care to have just the driver door unlock.
