What did you do to your GE fit today?
Came back from camping overnight in Big Sur. Slept, well, laid, in the back of the Fit. It didn't work well but I can tweak it to work next time. will post details in "have you camped in a fit" thread.

So I drove around for a few hours trying to find someone to install the Viper alarm/remote starter I got from Amazon.
Muller Honda dealership won't do any aftermarket alarms.
ABT electronics and one auto shop won't do any installation unless you bought it from them.
Best Buy and another auto shop will do it, but not on manual transmission cars.
Gahhhh.
To add insult to injury, some guy pulled up to me to swear at me, because he thought I was riding his ass. I would've passed him, but withthe exit coming up (clavey), i would've had to cut him off very closely. So I decided to the "courteous" thing and NOT cut him off. Of course, the lake-cook on ramp was right there with an SUV coming down it not giving me many options but to pull in right behind him.
I didn't honk or flash or even rev my engine at him. My only thought was, he's still signalling right and I want to go left at the street, and I hope he doesn't mean to go left.
Karma doesn't work right with me... do good and get shit thrown in my face.
However, he really pissed me off, so I chased him down, cut him off and had a few words with him. When I told him that i wanted to cut him off, but chose not to... he said bullshit. Why the fuck is that unbelievable?

goobers- return it and bring the price to abt to see if they can match it.
sorry to hear you had to deal with idiots on the road. i had my share of idiot tolerance this am..

yeah, I don't see ABT pricing matching this... primarily because Amazon is not an authorized dealer (nor was the 3rd party seller they were fulfilling the order for, or at least I don't think so). Abt Low Price Guarantee
Typically, ABT is almost never on my list of places to buy stuff from... their prices are pretty ridiculous on some of the stuff and generally high on the rest.
But after Best Buy declined due to me having a manual trans... I figured, what the hell, why not once in a blue moon.

I thought about doing it myself, but without the wiring diagram, I'd have no idea what wire is what.
So now, I'm trying to see if that electronic service manual I got a while back is remotely useful for this (it wasn't particularly useful in the past).
Plus, if i do it myself, it means that if I really put the effort into sourcing a few additional parts, I could potentially make and add "sub-harness adapters," so that I wouldn't need to splice into OE wiring. Though the question is... will I be able to find the correct mating plugs/connectors? Make no mistake, it's going to be a long and tedious effort if I do it this way (I haven't even determined just how many I might need to make).

Drove about 90 miles around the stunningly beautiful county where I live here in the southern Appalachians of Virginia, seeing patients and marveling at what a GORGEOUS day it was - and the fact I get paid hourly and mileage to do this
nice. i bought the factory allseason mats for my '12, but i forgot that it doesn't have very good coverage on my '09.
im going to be putting down some masking tape on the floor around the primeter where it wont have the coverage so i dont get salt deposits caked on.

This is what they suppose to look like based on Auto Anything also reviews posted by other Fit owners indicated perfect fit. I was considering the OEM weather mats did look like they cover fully. Plus with 15% off ( i think this is everyday discount) about the same price.

yah i like how it has the tall walls on the sides. that will for sure keep salt from getting onto the surrounding carpet.
the factory mats do fine for rear though. driver one is not too good, passenger isn't too bad.

After sleeping/camping in the Fit last weekend, decided to get some foam cut for the back to avoid the 'bump' from digging into me...the moving pads I used didn't work out well. Went to a place that sells all sorts of foam...for a 3" thick piece they wanted $161. No way! blowup camping mattresses were way too long. Backpacking pads weren't thick enough to counter the effects of the bump. Went to WalMart, bought their cheapest crib mattress for $39. Big enough to hold my head and trunk, small enough to fit. Has coil springs, should handle the bump. Going camping in the Sierra (Kennedy Meadows, north of Lake Isabella) this weekend, will report back how it goes. It's supposed to be cold, and the thickness of the mattress should help with that. Going to push the front passenger seat forward, and lean its back forward. That gives me about another foot or more, enough I could fit my 5'11" ok with my pillow against the back of the front seat.
I used a folded up comforter blanket I bought from Walmart.
I think the best thing to do really, is to level out the floor. I wonder if then"magic floorboard" sold for the Fit would do it. If not, add a 1/2 to 1 inch thick piece of plywood.
