What did you do to your GE fit today?
I have a thought for this: At work well sell sheets of something called Invisible Shield. You can buy kit for phones and tablets, and it sticks on most surfaces pretty well. You can clean it easily and it resists scratching. In fact, its the same stuff the US military coats helicopter blades with. Hell of a thing to cut up to fit to things, though.

Thanks for makin' it clear! I have no probs with my intake

DIY GE Intake
I recently added a 90 degree elbow to my diy intake, I just clamped it on the throttlebody whilethe end was pointing above the radiator. The weight of the MAF tube and filter bring it down to level, and because the elbow I bought is 4ply super thick, it doesnt squish or fall!
I noticed a torque increase by having that extra bit of length between the MAF and throttlebody
My thoughts is that there was a lot of turbulence.
Oh well, my hill climbing on the backroads got a lot more fun now!

Sorry to rain on your parade, but there's no way you actually gained a noticeable amount of torque from an intake like that. It's cool to put on an intake cuz of that induction noise you get, but people should not hope for any performance gains from doing it. Especially on this car. Even the power gain reported from K&N with the Typhoon intake is less that 5 hp @ 5900 rpm. You're not actually going to feel that.

Butt dyno +20hp

It may not do anything performance-wise, but when I converted the short ram with the longer piping I did feel more low end-- response(?). It doesn't feel like power gain but it does feel like something lol.
But yea definitely, you're right. I personally was going for sound-- same reason why I had gotten a muffler too. Makes driving more fun as opposed to stock

Haha!

I have been rolling on my DIY intake for 25k miles or so. The elbow is a recent change, since the original 2.5inch coupler form ebay hardened up and does not stay tight. The new coupler elbow adds about 4 inches to the intake length between the throttlebody and MAF sensor.
When I say added torque, I mean going up a hill where 5th gear flatout only maintained 60-65mph, now slowly crawls towards 70mph.
By the time I hit this hill, the car has been running on the highway for 10-15 minutes, not including time I spend letting it warm up, which is a minimum of 30-60 seconds if Im in a hurry.
the K&N typhoon is almost exactly like the old DIY intake. With the elbow, Im thinking air is flowing in a different pattern or shape now that the pathway has been adjusted
I've often wondered if space in the airbox would allow for someone to just stick a velocity stack in the part that goes from the box itself to the TB. It'd probably be at least half as good as an intake kit for much cheaper. Might try it one day for shiggles. And if it doesn't do anything or doesn't fit, well, it was only 20-ish dollars. I'm sure I could sell it on to someone else.
after 2 mos since my accident, (most of the waiting was for parts to come in) then another 2 weeks of waiting to get everything fitting properly and installed, FINALLY got the Fit back again today!

went from my $50 replica Mugen grill, to a $350 REAL Mugen grill!

Huh. Never noticed.
I want to do more, but I don't have good mod money this week (i.e. intake/exhaust). Contemplating a set of SickSpeed tow hooks in black to go with the shorty antenna. For the $30 or so dollars, why not right?

went from this:

to this:

long story short:
rear ended a pickup. virtually zero damage on his end. on my side the JDP hood got cracked in 2 spots. my replica grill was split in half. the center bar that has the hood latch got pushed back (couldn't pop the hood open), headlights were cracked (they wouldn't bite for the blacked out housing as seen on the newer fits, as a replacement.. ((i tried..)) the bumper and mugen lower lip spoiler luckily were left intact, but got a re-paint so cleaned up a lot of rock chips and scrapes from when my mugen replica grill got pushed inwards.
replacements in all:
- new JDP hood
- new Mugen grill
- new headlights (L&R side)
*UPDATE*
this is also happening sometime tomorrow after work.

Are the newer headlights with the black housings more expensive? I mean if you got insurance money then that's your money. You could have just ordered the lights yourself and given them to the shop to install.
