Waiting for 2015 Honda Fit to go on sale?
" I almost bought a '13 but realized that it was the end of the run and the dealers were (at the time) demanding top dollar for them. "
We just got a '13 base model Fit with the 5 speed auto for $15,574 . The sticker was $17,015 . Also got free mud guards , cargo cover and floor mats (4) . That's about an additional $400 for savings .

A/T was a different story. It was like they couldn't give them away.
The '13 depreciation margin isn't that bad ( around $2,000 ) and we got the .09% for financing . Waiting on the possible intro of the Honda Fit sedan , a.k.a. the City in other countries .
I think that you've pretty much described 95% of the Honda dealers. Great cars, but I wish they sold them like Teslas. Having to deal with this last vestige of horse-trading is not pleasant at all.

The bottleneck with the Fit was the fact that it was produced in Japan. Honda decided to wait until the cheaper Mexican factory was on-line so they could build North American versions of the Fit there. That way they didn't have to tool up their Japanese factory to produce NA market cars.

Just received an email from Lynnwood Honda that they should have them next week. Hope this holds true.

Just an an update to this post I made from a week ago. Not too much has changed. Cars are still not being delivered, and we really do not know why.
Approximately 630 2013 fits were sold in the last week and that is a rate of only 90 cars per day. A reduction of about 25%. With 2739 2013 fits left in inventory there still is a 30 day supply at this slower sales rate.
The highest VIN number I have seen so far is 8300, so at least 8300 cars have been produced and 979 of them are shown on cars.com as incoming to 246 different Honda Dealers.
What looked like exiting news, that manual transmission cars started showing up in inventories, petered out, when it is still only 2 6MT cars that are shown in the inventory of just one dealer. No new colors showed up in the inventories of Dealers this week. So despite the continued delay in the release of the already produced CVT cars, those of us who are hoping for a manual transmission or a Blue, White, Yellow or Purple car, will still have at least 2 more months to wait.
I have been looking at, and test driving several other cars. And who knows, I might end up buying something else if the new Fit in my choice of color and transmission doesn't appear soon. Just as at least a couple others here have already decided.

First, and most important, Honda has announced that cars will officially go on sale by the middle of June. My dealer has told me June 9. That is just 2 more weeks!
Second, 10 manual transmission cars have shown up in inventories including 1 EX and 9 LX manual transmission cars.
Third, all colors, except Mystic Yellow Pearl, have shown up this week, including 7 Aegean Blue cars, 4 White Orchid Pearl cars a and 2 Passion Berry Pearl cars. While that is not allot, it indicates that each of these colors are finally being produced and should start showing up on lots within the next 60 days or less. But I would not expect anything but EX CVT cars in Black, Silver, Grey or Red before July.
2013 Fits continue to sell, although at an even slower rate, as the inventory gets depleted. Right now there are 2212 2013 Fits listed and they are disappearing at a rate of 83 cars per day. Interestingly, Honda seems to still be finding some additional 2013s to give to dealers, as 50 additional ones were listed this week.
The highest serial number 2015 Fit I have seen so far is number 9863. So we can assume that is the total number of 2015 fits produced so far. This is 1563 more cars than there were last week and that is a build rate of about 195 cars per day. So production looks to be now be at the 70,000/year rate that Honda had announced as their sales goal for the Fit.
Only 1088 of those 9863 cars are presently listed on cars.com in the inventories of 250 dealers. Considering that there are more than 1000 Honda dealers in the US and 800 of them do list their cars on cars.com, I think we can safely assume that there are now plenty of cars to go around, once Honda release the cars and dealers get the OK from Honda to begin delivering Fits.
While we still don't have our cars, the numbers indicate that this was a very good week for those of us anxiously waiting our cars to be made. My dealer told me that my Modern Steel metallic 6MT EX is scheduled for early June production and delivery approximately 30 to 60 days from then. He said that I would have a VIN as soon as it is produced.
So here is my weekly update. While cars are still not available in dealerships to purchase, there is some promising news to report over the past 7 days:

Only the heroine, they're not removing the hero?
This is one hell of an update. Thanks TCroly!
It looks like mid-June. All assembled cars were pulled for checks and repairs.

GM will never get another dime from me.
Well Honda could not and should not have hidden these issues.
It is understandable that to save money and make more profit, they rely on "new labor force" in a country with low wages and super lenient environmental laws.
The Mexican plant uses less robotics that Japanese plants that assemble the Fits. Why? Well, of course, to save money. And this will be at the expense of quality since it's unlikely that a low wage Mexican worker is going to do a better quality job than expensive, modern, automotive assemble robotic system.
I am glad to stay with my Japanese built GE8.
Thank you very much.
