Not only is this good news, now know I made the right decision last Feb. in placing my deposit. Since you younger guys can control your bodies better than I can, I forecast my gas foot can at least achieve 35mpg with the a/c on - okay our rolling roads - 33mpg. Cops here are pretty stiff on speeding and I hardly ever go over 70 mph. Its usually 60 - 65.
Thanks for the update!!! The house July 4th BBQ is still going on and will have a beer in your behalf!!! Cheers man!!!

Went out tonight just for a joy ride. My gosh, this car is so much fun! I never wanted to just go for a joy ride in my Accord the way that I do with this car.
I'm still on the original tank of gas from the dealer. Tonight, I drove about 45 miles, with a highway/city combo.
I hadn't yet taken the car onto the highway, and I wanted to see how well the car did with the onramp merge onto I-95. I did not feel scared, or that the car didn't have sufficient power to make the merge quickly and safely. I got up to a cruising speed of about 65 fairly quickly and comfortably.
I have to say, that the CVT has really impressed me so far. I dare say that I find it more seamless than the VCM on the V6 Accord.
Here are my numbers from my trip:

EX with CVT...
I've filled up 5 times or so. I drive a mixture of highway (rural mostly, a bit of interstate) and city, probably 70%/30% respectively. First 3 tanks were in the high 35s -- 35.8 or so. A road trip from Atlanta to Alabama and back got me 44 MPG. Current tank (halfway through it) is running right at 39.
I use an app called "aCar" to log all of my fuel purchases along with odometer and various other expenditures and data (for lifetime of car statistics) and it agrees reasonably well with the car's computer. It's within a few tenths of a MPG, unlike the Sonata I drove which was always at least a full MPG and sometimes as much as 2 MPG more optimistic than aCar's calculation. aCar should have the right number over the long run, and even tank to tank should be accurate. It's doing exactly what I would do with a notepad and calculator were I still in the pre-smartphone era.

About the same for me. 38.3 all city except for a few short runs on the freeway. AC on 85%of the time.

The computer says 24.3 :-(
Full tank from dealer and the car has 125 miles on it all from that tank. Given a 10 gallon tank and that it indicates half full, that appears to be what it's getting.
Stop and go driving in high heat and humidity with several sizeable loads.. Countervailing that is that I drive like my dad used to, speeds have been in the 25-45 mph range, and we are both light.
I'll have the dealer check it along with the passenger airbag being off when I get my permanent tags.

Regardless, I do hope it's nothing serious. Please keep us posted on what you find out.

Thanks for the advice TCroly. I have to say, however, that I am conscious of not riding the brakes although I do slow down well in advance of a light or stop sign.
The car feels fine. I can't imagine it's the car. However, my readings are definitely way out of whack with what other people are reporting in their equally brand new cars.

Some tips if anyone's interested.. Eco mode seems to really help. Also our other car is a hybrid which really retrains driving habits. Use hills for free acceleration, coast as much as you can instead of using brakes. In heavy traffic don't accelerate at all.. A lot of people accelerate, brake, accelerate, brake.. Doesn't make sense! Also maintain a speed, you should be able to hold a speed nearly perfectly on flat surface, even easier with Eco mode on. Coming up to lights coast to a stop from far back instead of accelerate and hard braking. Also never accelerate more than is needed!

Ive put about 800 miles on mine now, mostly freeway miles, with AC on 100% of the time.
Almost no traffic, because I leave at 4:30AM in the morning, commute down the 405 from Northridge to Aliso Viejo.
Set cruise control at 70 and I dont touch it the entire way down.
I get (by tank measurement, not the computer) around 34MPG.
Just for kicks I did drive an entire tank going 65 and the MPG was marginally better around 36.
I've noticed its very easy to cheat the computer in this car, as coasting into a freeway exit from a half mile back will easily make my 35MPG number jump to the high 30's (even though 1/2 mile shouldnt affect the average number by much since its only 1/160th of my drive). Maybe the car, during that coasting period, is reading at 150MPG or something, so 150MPG/ 0.5 mile + 35MPG/79.5 miles = 39/40+?
Dunno.
I will say it gets better gas mileage than my last car, and I don't have to pay for premium, so it is serving its purpose
