I didn't read every post for this topic, but one thing I watch when looking at MPG is which way the wind is blowing and how hard. My previous job required a lot of hwy driving and that is certainly one thing I noticed is how much the wind plays into MPG. Obviously a tail wind really helps and a head wind does not.

335 miles and 8.029 gallons on my second tank. That's 41.7 mpg. Computer read exactly 40.0. Mixed highway and city driving, ECON, AC maybe a third of the time. Computer will read in the low 40s in city driving if I really pay attention to my driving style.

I get almost twice the mileage on my way to work, 53 MPG, than I do on my way home from work, 30.6.
Morning commute: Low traffic, AC off, 175 feet net elevation loss, Econ on
Evening commute: High traffic, AC on, 175 feet net elevation gain, Econ on
If I leave for work at 6:30am, I can cruise through light traffic at an efficient 45 to 50mph, only stopping at few red lights. It is cool before sunrise so I don't have to use the AC. Returning home, rush hour traffic prevents me from cruising efficiently and causes me to idle at red lights. I also have to run the AC because of hot summer sun.
It costs about $1 in fuel to drive home at rush hour, at $3.63 a gallon, but about $0.60 to drive to work. Distance is 9.8 miles.
I was able to stay over 90mpg while coasting up this 15% grade because light traffic allowed me to preserve momentum.
It costs about 25 cents per mile to climb a 12% grade. It costs about 11 cents to cruise on a flat road at optimum speed (45 to 55mph).
See the thread link below for a description of how I use an Android app called Torque to read telemetry from my car's computer. I then export this data to a spreadsheet and import it into Google Fusion tables to create these maps.

I am averaging between 37 to 47 mpg. I have double checked this with the traditional fill up, empty, and refill method before computers told us (or in the case of Ford I hear that they lie to their owners. How does a computer lie?)

Clearly you have an handle on measuring your fuel economy. I hope that you might set up a test to determine the effectiveness of the Eco button. And perhaps one to quantify the fuel economy impact of A/C on and off and A/C working hard and not working hard.

Well done!

I finally cracked the 300+ mile tank! Trip computer estimated 37.4 mpg, but real world math indicates 36.2 mpg. I will take that all day long. Loving my little purple beast!
I drive an equal mix of city/hwy, with A/C about 60% of the time. I'm also a bit of a lead foot ...

Mostly City driing for me.... So far I am averaging about 34 MPG... I am getting about 260-275 miles before a refill - which is about 7.8-8.0 Gallons of fuel.... Hoping for some highway driving in the next few weeks to see how that works out. I would like to see a little bit better - but will be patient - only my third tank of fuel.

I have just 485 miles on mine, and the first fill-up was a little over 40 mpg. The indicator has been showing 40+. I'll fill it again in a few days. I like the avg mpg display for each trip.
I drive to get good mileage. My son has the same model Fit, so we'll have to compare mileage. I got mine on Monday, and he got his three days later. He has only 585 on his, and he's filling it today.

How did you get that display on your GPS? I have a Garmin that connects to the car's computer, but I haven't seen that display.
