Fuel Mileage Related Discussions
This is about what I get on a weekly basis my commute to work is mostly highway, some city driving as well. I've hyper-mile the car to get somewhere in the 45mpg for short trips. Realistically I'm about 38-40mpg with the 6MT. 286.1 miles on 7.354 gallons of gasoline.
My best MPG by my own calculations was 31, and I did not get to that until after about 1,500 miles of break in.
This has been all most all city driving and mostly with the A/C on.
I started a Fuely account but only have two fill ups posted, if I have time I can plug in the rest...

I noticed the mileage was a bit lower in the first few hundred miles. Likely because the engine was breaking in. Now that the rings and seals have essentially seated through a few thermal cycles, its been consistent MPG as shown above in my last post.
Also, I know people have talked about the shaky 2nd gear, I run mid grade 89 in all my cars. I noticed that the shaky 2nd gear is caused by the car not being warmed up to operating temperature. The DI system is running in open loop mode. When warmed up there is no shakiness or hesitation at all when it receives feedback from the MAS and O2 sensors.

Got my 2015 LX CVT on Sept 6. On Sept 17 My first fill up, 298 miles 8.5 gal. 35.05mpg. About 60 highway miles and Econ not on. After I filled up I pushed the Econ button to see if it makes a difference. I am happy with the CVT but only floor it when I need to. My MPG on dash gauge showed 39.6 so it is not accurate.
I was hit with a surprise today. Usually we know the trip computer over estimates our mpg, but today it underestimated it. I drove up to SF today from LA and I stopped to get gas with two ticks left to empty.
Drove 350 miles and filled up about 8 gallons. Trip computer says I did 41.2 mpg and Fuelly says I did 43.
This was with a lot of uphill driving on the I5, AC on about 70% of the time, Eco off, and driving 65-75 mph about 80% of the time. Also with another passenger and luggage to boot.

The '11 and '13 Fit do the same . We think there are times the tank is overfilled or under . Tends to balance out in the overall calculations . Make sense ?
Here are pictures of the display average and the calculated as in BASS post ( 282 ) . Go here if interested , http://www.fitownersclub.com/forums/...d.php?t=123001 .

I've concluded that it is impossible to end up with exactly the same fill level from fill-up to fill-up even if you always stop filling at exactly the first click. There must be some huge variation in the pumps' auto-stop sensitivity, even at the same station, even at the same pump from one fill-up to the next. I too have had a couple of times when I have actually beat the trip computer, and I've further had a few times where one tank showed worse than typical and the very next is better than typical with a two tank average that is much like the overall.
wow. i would be lucky to break 300 miles before the fuel light came on.
My '15 Fit EX CVT had to be driven to my local dealer from one state over, so despite it having only having 9 miles on the odo "new", it had 208 when I took delivery. It indicated a full tank (no idea how far they drove after filling the tank), and I got 320 miles before filling it up myself for the first time. Did not pay attention to when the gas light came on, tho.
The on-board computer said I got 40.1mpg, and doing the math (8.54 gallons over 320 miles) yields 37.47mpg.
The per-trip computer has shown a couple trips in the 45-47mpg range, though most are in the ~40 range. I was using eco mode for the first tank and being mostly gentle on the throttle. The second tank will get some more aggressive throttle to help seat the rings, so I don't expect to get quite as good.
I won't really have a good idea of actual average mileage until I've run 10 tanks or so.

hey guys just checking in.
EX-6MT
just refueled, miles read at 298.4 miles and at 38.6 avg by Honda
I refueled 7.660 gallons at Costco, 87 unleaded.
298.4/ 7.660 = 38.9. this is all suburbs driving (long straight roads 45 limit), usually just me, and A/C is set at fan setting one.
so I'm hoping that Freeway run will get me higher MPG on long haul trips.
but this is really really cool.

Numbers from first road trip
Here are some pictures of my New Mystic Yellow 2015 Honda Fit EX w/CVT in front of my home before its first road trip.

The first road trip was from the Dallas area to Winstar Casino in Oklahoma which was a 62 mile trip each way.
The trip had some idle time (at ATM, at stop lights) and some stop and go traffic for about 6 miles and the rest was highway speeds of 65 for 46 miles and 75 for 20 miles. There were some steep hills north of Gainsville TX and the wind was against me on the return trip. The highway drive was on cruise control. The Eco Mode was off and the AC was on 100% (Fan Speed 1) because Texas is HOT.
With those settings and conditions I still got 39.0 MPG on the trip to Oklahoma and 38.3 MPG on the return trip.
I am very very happy with those numbers especially since my 16 year old Ford Ranger truck with its problems of misfiring was only getting about 12 MPG.
I really love the Lane Watch feature and used it extensively on the trip. It made changing lanes much easier.
I have already installed the Honda cargo tray, the Honda wheel locks and will be installing the Honda rear bumper applique and the Honda splash guards in the next few days.
I will also be replacing various incandescent lights with LEDs that are superior or in the case of the cargo light much brighter. The LEDs are much more efficient and as so will be a lower load on the battery or in the case if mistakenly left on will not drain the battery overnight.

This is after driving back to work from the gas station, then driving home last night, then driving to work again this morn. 75% highway driving at 70-72mph, fair weather, no AC, some stop and go for a mile or so each way, the other 25% on 40-50mph backroads. Now, normally, I average just below EPA highway ratings on most of our cars with the same commute. Granted, I have yet to measure the accuracy of the OBC, but it can't be THAT far off unless its completely broken. I'm quite surprised by this reading. Going to be interesting to see where it nets out through the whole tank and how close the OBC is to reality.
This is a 6MT LX, by the way, with less than 400 miles on the odo. This will be my first calculation since the first tank was the gas put in by the dealer and I couldn't fairly calculate it without knowing how far they drove after filling.

man, you guys have some light feet!
after 3000 miles, i have settled into my commute norm. i would be lucky to break 300 miles on a single tank.
i am filling up every third morning. i really wish they put a bigger thank in this thing...
sorry about the blurry pic, bu this was yesterday morning:
