Warning to potential buyers (2 year review)

2015 6MT LX

Rear alignment permanently defective, Honda claims no fix. Many others have had this problem as well.

More alignment issues.

Paint issues thread here, album here.

Honda has tried to fix paint twice now with no effect.

Extreme window rattle when closed, Honda claims this is normal.

Others have experienced:

Carbon buildup (Major Engine Failure at 1 year, 10,000 miles)

Catalytic Converter failure (Sold 2015 fit !! Warning !!)

This is in addition to the multiple fit and finish problems on this site, and multiple recalls by Honda.

Buyer beware!

Here's my two year report: my early Mexican built car has been well-nigh perfect.

Just because you have had those issues doesn't mean they all do.

Sounds like you got the typical (for GM) first production mess. I had that misfortune with the first midsize Saturn in 2000, the LS model.

I traded my Saturn LS at 15K miles and under 2 years.

These used to be called "Monday" cars relating to the factory personnel at GM coming in with hangovers.

Sorry to hear you got this on a Honda. You might want to contact Honda corporate and ask if they will arrange an extra sweet trade on a newer model. If not, explore your state's lemon law process. My 2016 has no major issues.

Mine is #7742 built. Built March 2014. Bought June 2014.

As of August 2016, currently at 15k miles, just past 2 years old. No significant issues to speak of, other than intermittant sqeaky rear brakes, specifically the right/passenger side rear brake.

Also, every once in a while, the sunroof closes half way and refuse to close the rest of the way and returns to fully open. After 3-4 tries, it will close fully. Its happened on 3 different occasions, always when its REALLY hot outside and the car has been parked in direct sunlight. Dealer hasn't been able to replicate.

I have two of these cars that will be 2yrs old in Oct. both over 20k mi now. One had the alignment issue which I fixed with shims. No big deal. Up to this point I haven't had any of the other issues listed.

I'm still happy with these little cars.

Coming up on two years and 42K on mine. No major issues, and still quite happy with it.

Almost 2 years and 55k miles, my only real issues have been the VTC actuator (common Honda problem in general) and my rear struts failing twice (because I drive hard, hoping to replace with aftermarket).

I've heard of a lot of first-year models of ANY kind of car having random issues. Not everyone gets a perfect car, and no factory is flawless. Until vehicle production becomes COMPLETELY AUTOMATED (meaning zero humans involved - design, repair, operation, supply) there will continue to be random cars that will have failures (also, you bought a $20k econobox. The factory has to cut the budget somewhere to make a profit). It doesn't mean that everyone will have these issues because some people (like myself from time to time) treat their cars like absolute sh*t and expect them to be flawless.

Treat your car like your child. Take care of it, give it proper maintenance, expect some hiccups along the way, and maybe everyone won't feel the need to go online and b*tch about their problems and scare people away.

*rant over*

My Daughter still loves her Fit !

It has been two years, and aside from a day one problem with the side view camera and the rear view camera getting confused as to who was supposed to be working at any given time (which was fixed right away by Honda), we have had no problems.

My Daughter drives the car back and forth between home/school and her job, and loves it. I suspect we will be replacing the tires before Christmas, as they seem to be wearing rather fast now, but that is to be expected for factory tires.

I feel for those who have had multiple problems, and in no way would i try to diminish their frustration. Having said that, as someone who has owned both the first and third generation Fit, I would recommend the car to anyone wanting a small, but capable car.

That is not a review, it's a biased list of why you don't like the car or Honda. A review would talk about the positives, negatives and weigh them against each other. As its written it has little purpose other than to complain and thereby loses a lot of credibility.
