I picked up a Sport MT in Storm Silver Metallic. No mods on it other than a car seat for the son and the Dealer tinted it for me. I think the dealer tinted it for me at least the one I test drove when they first came out didn't have windows that dark. I am going to fall into that MPG group so nothing planned for it now. I wonder if the Carbon hood would improve milage?

I would only get a buffer if you know how to properly use one. If you don't, you could potentially damage your paint

You could also try getting a Dual-Action Polisher. It is more difficult to damage the paint with one of those.

I was surprised at the results myself.

I like Mothers, but I found they don't last to long. Don't know why. I REALLY like Formula 2001. That puts a VERY nice shine on the car & last long. I use Mothers for everything else. Inside the car & under the hood. I find it does good there.

Consumer Reports' wax ratings

Consumer Reports' ratings of car waxes just came out. Black Magic Wet Shine Liquid Wax was highest rated, followed closely by Turtle Wax Carnauba Car Wax. Black Magic Wet Shine Liquid Wax scored excellent in all categories (gloss, durability, ease of use, cleaning, scratching/hazing, and compatibility with plastics) except ease of use where it scored good.

Any mention of Meguiars? I spend extra on it because a friend who restores Jaguars always loved their stuff.

Thanks for the info. Brand name loyalty isn't typical of me, and now I'll take a closer look at price next time I buy my car products. At least Meguiars made the cut!

The new Nanowax is ths $h!t It actually took out scratches that Meguire's Scratch Remover didn't. Seriously, this stuff is awsome! I found out about it on my Ridgeline BB. And, it does not leave any white residue on plastic pieces.

Talking Waxing Your New FIT

A few weeks after you get your new Fit you can consider waxing it. For the last 50 years, on twenty brand new cars, I have always used a paste wax. I wax all of my cars twice a year and wash them with just plain water as needed. For my Fit, for the first time, I used a liquid wax. I used the brand recommended in Consumer Reports (they also recommend using a liquid over the paste waxes). That brand is Black Magic Wet Shine Liquid Wax. WOW! What a shine. Even after three trips though the rain over the last two weeks the shine is spectacular. Am anxious to see how well the water beads up after three or four months of D.C.'s hot Summer.

The Fit has a clear coat paint finish, I have a 6 year old Civic that has never been hand waxed and still the paint shines like new. I have not been a big fan of any type or rub on wax, I just wash my car good and go to a car wash and use the spray on wax they offer.
