you dont need to get a huge Exhaust. 50mm is fine. If your car is not too loud now leave your Js stuff on it! My car with my mods is quieter than ezekielwh0res car with test pipe and axle back only.

So your telling us that 50mm is ok? WOW! thats cool. Is the Tanabe you have the Medalion Touring?

Also, what sound tone are you getting off of that setup with the s/c installed?

The only thing that is holding me back on the KWSC is the extra noise that I will be getting. I don’t want my exhaust to be loud at all, and to get the fullest potential would require a larger exhaust system which will allow the exhaust to flow better, meaning loud exhaust. This might even be necessary for headers/cat delete/b-pipe just to realize the fullest potential on an AT.

As for turbo the exhaust side of the turbo baffles the exhaust pulses resulting in a quieter exhaust regardless of exhaust system, it will lower the sounds. If you are asking how do I know and how can I justify this, I’ll give examples.

85 toyota corolla gts, aka AE86 with 4age motor which is 1.6l DOHC.

Mildly modded with headers, cat delete and HKS Windmaster exhaust I get above 100 db idle and at 3k rpm around 115ish. Very loud, deep and just straight out race car sound.

4agze motor(supercharged factory Toyota motor) with headers, greddy DD with headers get similar sound if not slightly more.

Turboed 4agze motor, with cat delete, and HKS Windmaster I get 85db idle, and 95ish db at 3k rpm. Very streetable and can even drive in front of police stations without issues.

So long story short, I want to DD my car, and I like to keep the noise to a minimum and would also like the additional power. So my debate will between the KWSC and HKS/T1R turbo kit is can I find an exhaust that is bearable to me to justify the KWSC?

Is your car loud now? If not then dont worry about it. You dont have to go to the 60mm exhaust. The skunk2 exhaust is just LOUD. My car is quieter than Ezekielwh0res car and he only has a test pipe and axle back. I have essentially a header back system. Certain exhausts from certain companys are louder than others. Stay with 50mm and you will be fine.

50mm is perfectly fine. Yes i have the touring medallion. I did not experience a change from NA to FI. It sounds the same. It is a nice deep tone, but not loud.... unless your mashing on it.

To me yes my exhaust is loud with the j’s racing b-pipe and muffler. It’s not bad with the silencer, but it sounds like crap with it.

I was thinking of getting the tanabe medallion, but I want to hear it first.

I haven't put the other parts on yet and won't until i get the sc so i won't know the exact tone for a month or so.

Chris,
These pre-orders are for the 5MT only correct? When the AT kit rolls out, will the Jacksons also offer a similar pre-order discount for the 5AT owners at that later date?

Yo Chris,
Was wondering if you had the info on when the pre order discount will be done. I'm going to wait until the next billing cycle on my credit card starts on the 12th of this month, to place the deposit. Thanks on any info you can pick up.

Oh one more thing I was wondering how to designate my order as one that I would pick up rather than have shipped. I don't want them to mistakenly ship the kit to my house and charge me for it, since I live maybe 30 minutes away I could easily pick it up and save myself the additional cost of shipping. Thanks

The skunk2 exhaust is just LOUD.
True. Even more so, im sure, with test pipe/headers. BUT, with the silencer, its pretty dam close to stock. My question is, when you say it sounds "like crap" with a test pipe/headers, do you mean "ricey" crap, or just "doesn't sound healthy" crap. The last thing i want to do is sound like every other Honda with a snap-on muffler tip, ya know...

why is everyone so concerned about the exhaust? the latest dyno was done totally stock. you should be more worried if you want to be carb legal or not, because according to the info on from kraftwerks, unless you get bigger injectors, your headers/bpipe/testpipe/ axle-back combos are going to be wasting power.

but if you care not about being carb legal, then just disregard it.
i figure if you were going to just do an axle back, you could still do the totally stock kit and not have to worry about running lean.

chris, what consequences do we look at not being carb legal and not passing emissions? i know you live in cali, so i figure thats the worst case scenario....

The thing is that I'm not worried about carb legal. we dont have emissions here in florida. I had mentioned about the exhast because I am looking to get the injector upgrade as soon as the kit comes out as stated by Oscar that said the upgraded injector should be ready when the kits are sent out. I def want the numbers Chris has, so I'm looking to have an awesome exhaust setup with the right tone. So I asked for the advice and input of all.
