Hi-
I read an ad about 5-6 years ago about an electric centrifugal supercharger. When I searched for more info., I found that they were intended for Mazda Miatas and claimed to provide about a 6 psi boost. I quit searching because my interest, at that time, was in such an add-on for a 2.9 liter Ford V-6. However, as a new Fit Sport owner, such a device might be very interesting.

This sounds similar to the other thread where someone asked about electric-driven AC. Seems to me that to drive a 6 psi increase above standard atmospheric pressure would require a descent sized motor. Not saying it cannot be done, but the energy would have to be taken from something, and this most likely would manifest as extra load on the alternator. Always interesting to hear about unconventional approaches though.

Back on the orig. topic, I am eyeing that K&N and thinking to buy. If nothing else, I can justify the $40 with 4 air filter replacements. In another thread, I saw a negative comment regarding filters that require oiling, specifically that the oil eventually can interfere with the MAF (mass air flow meter for the noobs). I don't believe our Fits have MAFs...will double-check, but this shouldn't be a problem. Last time I removed the intake from our Honda Ody, it was nicely coated with engine oil residue, so I don't think a small amount of K&N oil is going to hurt. Also, this is usually not an issue if a person takes care to not over-oil.

With L13a, you can have a square or rectangle airbox. Me i have square airbox and i think same of L15A.
Ask K&N for know length and width of filter.

Sonorliteman:
The oil used on K&N filters and some other brands is a special high-viscosity (sticky) oil that traps dust particles onto the cotton fibers of the filter element. This oil is not likely to travel out of the filter fibers unless you ignore the re-oiling instructions provided by K&N with their cleaning kit by soaking the filter in the oil and not removing the excess.

Also, the electric supercharger that I mentioned looked like a giant hair dryer.

K & N Filter drop in filter available for U.S. Fit

I received an email from K & N Filters that the drop in air filter is now available for the 07 U.S. Fit, http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=33-2359

It's priced at $39.32 U.S. dollar plus shipping and tax. I ordered it direct from them,as I priced it a local dealer and they wanted $54.99 plus shipping and tax. Thought this might be helpful for all fellow fit freaks.

Completely agree w/ you...I mentioned the oil b/c some will use it as an argument against the K&N filter. I've never had trouble w/ it.

What year is the car ? If anything under 04, you use the long shape air filter which you can get from Spoon, Mugen or HKS.

I'd recommend teh mugen one, i just picked one up myself, teh only downside is the cost of such a tiny filter, but the throttle response is more then worth it, not sure if maybe K&N have one for the longer filter housing or not, but i think they do for the 1.5 liters.

Για σου. (Hi)
I had put at one and I took from there: www.gkarras.gr at dimension 170Χ157mm. It was not the same but I put it with little pressure.
But I do not saw any different. I count with chronometer 0-100 and the time was the same. I think that the original filter (paper) is very good design. I think that the best that you can do is to take off the box. This is the next move that I will do to my Jazz.
Τα ξαναλέμε (have a nice day)

Thumbs up Intakes people.... Intakes...

Spoon Drop in vs. HKS drop in

and

T1R Carbon Intake vs. AEM cool air

Which is better and why? ( i know the last one is a no brainer because one is like 150 bucks and the other is 350 but whatever shut up and do it)

Any Cold Air Intake is a good thing! Colder air at all times cools down the pipe and prevents heat soak! And more cooler air equals denser air hence more oxygen!! And you know what happens when you fan a fire! The only thing is that you might lose a little low end torque, but much less of a loss than a short Hot Ram intake. Mid- high range is great with a CAI!

Its not true in general - depends on construction of CAI.

I know a guy, who is a pro in engine tuning. He has been dynoing a car (Civic with B18 engine).

1st with CAI
2nd with Short Ram

Conclusion was, that the engine torque and power curve was constant (a smooth line without drops) with Shot Ram. With CAI the curve showed a significant drop of T and P in the mid range of RPM. In both cases ECU tuning was applied and dynoed. Both applications used the same filter.

Of course it depends on the engine disposition and construction of CAI.

One more thing (imho), if you are applying any open pod systems (CAI or Short Ram), you need to reset the ECU for max. achievement (so ECU will adjust from scratch) -> its simply done by disconecting the main supply at the battery.
