How did you connect the 2nd 90 degree bend without a coupler?

Thanks

You use the coupling band that comes with the elbow.

This sucks! I finally got my filter today & come to find out the piping won't fit cos my battery is to big! I have a everstart 51R-4. It's too long! I guess the only way I could get this to work is buy another battery..

How'd you get the intake filter to fit? Which one & size did you buy? Mines is too big to fit in front of the battery. So I'm just running the 90 elbow with the filter. The part number to the filter I got is 8138.

Are you able to loosen the battery and push it back a bit? I think removal of the battery tray to some extent was needed... can't remember exactly. In regards to the pipe, I know I have mine set up where the engine-most pipe is directed upward slightly while the filter-most pipe is pointed down into the space just above the radiator hose.

Oh yeah, looks no different. You should be able to add the second elbow if you angle things right.

Tried messing with it today. Got it to fit with the the 45 on but not too sure if its supposed to be that way. But at least it's not right behind the radiator sucking in the hot air.

Parts:
3" High Flow Blue Air Filter
Part# 8132 $24.99
Chrome 90 degree bend
Part# 8698 $10.99 (2 of these)
3"-2.5" Silicone Coupler/Reducer Part# 8756 $6.99
Breather Filter Part# 3996 $8.99

Above are roughly parts I bought. Also, I didnt do anything with regards to battery adjustment/placement. What I did do though is start my elbow at an angle coming out of the Coupler (notice my elbow is not parallel to either the firewall or battery...hard to explain but check my elbow pic lines and compare to yours). Starting like this gave me additional room needed for the second elbow. Im not an expert or claim to be a mechanic BUT it was plenty trial/error while parts were not tighten down yet. Goodluck.

If any of you want to replace your sketchy (in my opinion) Spectre couplers, I recommend a nice thick 4 ply silicone one like this -
HPS 2.5" - 3" (63mm - 76mm) Reducer Coupler Silicone Hose Black : Amazon.com : Automotive HPS 2.5" - 3" (63mm - 76mm) Reducer Coupler Silicone Hose Black : Amazon.com : Automotive
. There are tons of other brands too, Mishimoto, etc, but I can vouch for HPS. They're awesome.

Think this was more of a suggested DIY forum which was started by SID (thanks again sid). If your suggesting change the coupler, then why not change the whole system to an HPS set up like:
http://www.dashzracing.com/07-08-honda-fit-mt-cold-air-intake-by-hps-polish-37-581p.html

Again, not trying to knock your suggestion but the coupler your posting is a more high end which is also used for turbo's. So, im more of either lets keep it budget or lets get the best. These elbos are also not the top of the line, they are budget but they get the job done. So much, I did the same set up on my older 97 Civic EX VSM. Just my thought.

I get it. It's just those Spectre couplers seem super thin and get very malleable when hot. I could easily see one tearing during driving, or slipping through the clamps completely. Especially if you just have the intake hanging there off the throttle body and the coupler/reducer is basically providing the support for the whole assembly. And I don't think $30 is that expensive. You should do things right the first time imo. And DIY doesn't have to mean dirt cheap parts from Autozone...

Decided to give this a shot. For the money you just can't beat it.. gives you the nice growl of an intake and you can actually hear the VTEC transition now. Gave a slight increase in power I think, but more than anything the power feels smoother than before and my idle seems better as well only note I would add is to make sure you drill the IAT hole as close to the coupler as possible. Mine definitely has a bit of tension.

Talking

Ok so I went to autozone last night and bought the two 90s, throttle body reducer coupler, and a breather, but I decided i would like to use a K&N filter so i bought the KNN-RU-3580

Probably try to put the decal that comes with it on the pipe somewhere

Thumbs down Dont Like SSR Intake

So installed my SSR intake this weekend looks good but I dont like how it rests on radiator hose (no matter how many times i readjust it) and the coupler on the throttle body is crap. I will be going back to stock with K&N drop in if i decide to go with an aftermarket intake i will definitely buy something of better quality and with a mount.

Those are the exact reasons I ditched my diy "SSR" intake and went with a K&N Typhoon. Those Spectre couplers are total SHITE, hate their plastic piping with plastic couplers, and their lack of a decent support/mount system. It doesn't help that their filters are huge and heavy too.

I have a k&n typhoon set up... and notice that the tube that goes from where the engine is at is replaced by a mini filter cone... What comes out from there and what is the benefits of it?

Also what can I use to cover the intake so it doesn't receive any warm air from the engine and all cold air from the outside?
