a lot of people did it... just search for it, it's pretty much the same but they re-use the part where the MAF goes, so you have to use both new parts and stock intake... or try too find a CAI in a junkyard and start from that!

The issue you run into is that the GEx models have a MAF that can be rather sensitive as to placement and possibly tube diameter. Spectre does offer a tube with a provision for mounting a MAF, but I personally have not tried to use or install it.

How does the ebay Intake for 50$ compare to the SSR intake? I'm wondering if this would be a better buy since the SSR intake piping is plastic, and you would to modify the MAF sensor hole yourself. The Ebay kit would be cheaper, have an aluminum piping, no modifications, and be a cheaper price. Let me know if anyone of you have tried or seen this. Thanks

depends on what you get, with Sid's elbows it's not needed... but i went with aluminium elbows and had to get a silicone coupler

It's hard to imagine after all this time, this intake still is so relevant.

It's kinda like I've got a legacy now. I have gone down in history as the innovator of one of the most widely used and most popular short ram intakes for the Honda Fit.

And to think, I've never made a dime off of any of it. No feasible way to put together a package that you could make any money on it at all.

It was just trial and error for me to figure out what worked. And I figured the best thing to do was to share it freely with the entire community. Pay it forward, as it were.

And look at me now. Broke, disabled, unable to work, still trying to get disability after almost 3 years, my wife of almost 10 years cheats on me, then leaves me taking the Fit with her, leaving me with a mountain of bills, no money, no income. Complete abandonment. My home is in foreclosure. My phones are temporarily disconnected. And my utilities are set to be turned off on Friday.

So I apologize to all for not being on the site much lately. As you can imagine, I have been somewhat distracted.

i just installed mine, 6.9.11. i was amazed at the sound that is coming from my engine, the sound alone is worth the money i dont even care if i gained anything, i am sure with a proper exhaust and tune it would make some nice power.

SID I am sorry to hear about your recent misfortune man, hope it starts looking up for you we all know you deserve kharma to be on your side.

anyone dyno this thing yet? or this plus an exhaust? how much would tuning cost ballpark for i/h/e on this car?

Um so a tune really isn't needed with just an intake header and exhaust. I would guess that stock these cars have right around 75-80hp at the wheels. Doing and i/h/e combo (and it has to be a full exhaust not just an axleback) would maybe gain you 5-8 hp at the wheels. You could tune it but you would have to buy something to tune it with like a APEXi neo or chip the ECU and that costs $100-200 just for that then you have to pay someone to tune it or at least rent a dyno and I really doubt you would see a significant gain from doing it. Now the best way to free up some power is get rid of the Cat on the car. That is by far one of the biggest restrictors on the car but even doing that isn't going to take you past the 90 hp mark at the wheels

Remember that the engine only makes 105 hp stock and just bolt ons will not get you past that number. All you are doing is freeing up lost hp because the stock systems are restrictive and inefficent. In order to truely gain power you need to modify the internals of the engine or add some kind of power adder like a turbo/supercharger/nitrous. It is at this point that you need a tune because you are significantly altering the amount air and fuel the engine need and are getting in order to run properly. Without significantly changing the engine internals or adding boost/nitrous your really don't need a tune.

Has anyone noticed a decrease in throttle response changing from a stock to DIY or aftermarket air intake? I heard this could be an issue.

All the pics look great

Um no. That's one of the benefits of doing this. It may be smoother and it is alittle louder so maybe your not accelerating as hard as when it was stock due to the noise.

Im still stock, that was just an issue i wanted cleared up before i decide to change my intake. I was originally looking to go with something spoon and noticed they only had a drop in. it was said on their site (i believe.) this was a while ago) that an aftermarket intake while increasing overall HP will hinder the throttle response.

The greater the volume of the intake assembly closer to the throttle body, the greater the throttle response. Faster pressurizing of the manifold. That's why ITB's have killer throttle response - full atmo pressure and only a few inches of tube to fill.

A tube intake reduces that (doesn't have the resonators that give that effect) but gives laminar flow that in theory reduces the pressure differential between throttle plate and the start of the system. Like all things, trade-off.

Talking Should be the first MOD for any FIT Owner.

I just installed this mod with 2 elbows and it works as stated. I am still in progress of modifying my 2007 and have to admit this was well worth it. Took about 30 minutes from start to finish, pretty straight forward from the outline SID has placed. Want to make sure I shout out a thanks to you. THANKS

Did mine Yesterday, SOOOOO much better of a sound! I'm going to take out a fog light and run a flexible aluminum duct right to the intake, and then build a heat box around it!
