How much BOOST can it take?

Hey FI members,

I'm about to embark on a journey into increasing the boost on my T1R turbo'd Fit...

I know some of us have gone to 7-8psi of boost, but I want to know if anyone has tried to go to 9-10psi?

I am looking at going to 9-10psi in the next little while, but I want to know if the 310cc injectors are going to be enough and if our stock fuel pump can flow enough gas to feed the additional power? or will it need to be upgraded?

I want to take the proper precautions before setting up a dyno tune etc and increasing my boost pressure. Last thing I want to do is run out of fuel and leaning out..

I'm not looking to get over 200whp, but close to it. I'm not sure where 9-10 psi will take me, but I hope to find out soon...

My first dyno pass without being tuned properly was decent considering the conditions. I pulled out 156whp/148lb ft of torque @ 5.7psi on a Mustang dyno at 3500 ft above sea level. Put my car in Cali and on a Dynojet and I would've probably have seen around 170-175whp/160-165lb ft.

I am increasing boost via a Hallman Pro RX MBC. If all things go well I hope to be boosting 9-10psi and pulling close to 200whp.

Any info and suggestions in preparing for this from you guys would be great..

For 220hp(~200whp) and no more then an 80% fuel injector duty cycle:

HP * BSFC / #of injectors * duty cycle = 220 * .50 / 4 * .8 = 34.375

34.375 * 10.5 ~ 361 cc / min

As for the stock fuel pump I have no idea how much it flows...but according to others it doesn't seem to be enough for 200whp.

skunk2's project car was running 15lbs before she exploded. so i think you could push 10-12lbs safely if you keep it tuned properly.

holy man...lol, now I'm thinking of boost. I didn't think a stock l15 could take that much...internally sso never really pondered the idea much and 200whp in the fit would be amazing :/
do you know about how much power you're getting kyle?

Do it dude! You won't know for sure if the pump will flow 10lbs until you try on a dyno.

Besides, I wanna go to 10lbs.. but you first buddy!!

first I gotta get my fit to idle above 11:1 afr.... my $$$ synthetic oil is all diluted with gas because of that! Crap.

Yeah, I'm gonna fiddle with it some more (and change the brand new oil ) this weekend. What's weird is it isn't throwing any codes after I reset the ecu. Just idles happy and smooth as can be, with my AEM wideband sitting pretty at 11:1. WTH?

I'm gonna do it.. just waiting for my MBC to come in. Should be within the next couple weeks.

The highest we might try is 11psi.. we'll see how daring we get
