Yeah friction's a bit*h.
They're all gonna do that. Just a matter of time. My all weather mats in my truck eventually got some nice wear spots on the driver's side.

i just noticed my FIT emblem on the driver side is peeling @ the edges and it's getting lifted off the carpet. I gotta use my paint and interior protection warranty to get a new one. =)

On the OEM mats, do you actually have to install them? I saw installation instructions showing how to add the hooks through the existing carpet, measuring and cutting.

My passenger side one peeled.

Dealer swapped me a new set.

I "installed" the front ones. I didn't bother with the rear as there is rarely anyone in the back seat.

This mats are smooth on the back and will slide around with use. The holders, um, hold them in place better.

I bought the rubber mats from College Hills and don't regret it one bit!

Jam,
Did you do the "installation" or just chunk them in there? I was considering the rubber ones, but I saw the instructions were the same for rubber and carpet versions.

I followed someone else's advice here from awhile back and bought some grey carpeting from Home Depot (about $8-10). I traced out a pattern for the front seats and had enough left over for 1 back seat. I'm gonna buy another roll for the second back seat (or do 1 big mat) and for the trunk. Holds in place just fine and after several months of use I haven't noticed any wear as of yet. For the price I'm going to do this for all my cars in the future.

I have to agree that the carpet Honda Fit mats are pretty humble, especially for the price they go for. I don't expect that the one on the drivers side will last more than a year before it's totally trashed. I installed the hooks for the front but was shorted the stays for the right rear. No big deal, no one sits back there anyhow.

I have the carpeted mats as well and they don't seem likely to hold up. I ordered a set of Hexomat floor mats for winter use, they haven't come in yet but were significantly cheaper than the OEM. These are from AutoAnything.

Fit Floor Mat accessories?

So I go to the dealer and order the 4 "hooks" that attach below the driver and passenger floor mats, so they dont move around. That wasnt really a problem. There are flaps that you pull up right at the base of where the floor mats go that have an area to attach the hooks. Its the other 2 "things" they gave me that I dont understand. I dont even know what they are for. The are 2 separate bags and in them are 2 pieces of plastic something or other...I dont even know how to explain what it is but if anyone has seen them and can explain what they are and where they go, that would be great. haha

Did you not get the instructions with them? I ordered the mats via Internet and they came with the instructions as well as the hooks. The two other gizmos are for the passenger side rear floormat (the parts I got shorted). I have the intructions at home and will scan and mail them to you tonight if you wish.

Here are the instructions. This doesn't include the template for cutting. If you put the mat in place, you can locate the holes that are precut in the carpet in the passenger side rear floorboard. The template guides in cutting slots toward the front and rear of the car so you can insert the base holder, then snap on the hook holder. You can see the shape of the cutout in the instructions.

It would almost be easier to cut without the template if you knew how long and wide the slots are.

Bumping an old thread rather than starting a new one...

I finally got around to installing my all season mats. I was using some generics I had on my old STi for the time being. I installed the hooks on the fronts, but didn't bother with the rears. The rears seem pretty secure to the point they won't move around much without hooks.

The fit and finish of these mats are excellent.

I thought it was weird too. it made me wonder if I even had to install the hookes, cuz prior cars we'd just place it. It shouldn't move b/c of the spikes, and even if it did move its not a big deal.

And I felt like i inhaled a lot of asbestos.

my all season mats are good, but me being very obsessive, I noticed some of the edges of the mats are deformed and warped.

the rear is hard, b/c you have to judge where the hole is. It's very hard to find (not sure if they exist. I think you have to be creative and use your own judgement the best place they should be), and I think I was actually off.

Some sort of mats seems mandatory - with the el cheapo material they used - don't think I could've imagined a more cheap feeling carpet than they used on these fits.[/quote]

I totally agree! I opened the door of the car at the dealer when it arrived and said "omg, they forgot the carpeting"!! I love the car, with that exception. I don't know what they were thinking (or NOT) when they chose to use whatever that is as carpet material.
