I'm actully very happy my OEM carpet mats. They match the carpet on the Fit's floor perfectly. Though the all season Mats will prolly last longer and are way easier to clean I'm still happy with them (BTW dog hair is a b!tch to get out. I have a St. Bernarad that's a house dog and she sheds 24/7. Hair gets all over my clothes, shoes, and everything else). If and when my mats get so dirty to the point where they look dirty even after I clean them, I'll just buy new ones. I've never really been a fan of all season floormats but that's just me.

My comments on the carpet ones were just that I had seen several posts that they wear out pretty quickly - I live in MN where there's lots of snow in the winter and mud in the summer, so durability and ease of cleaning are paramount for me. It's good to hear that the carpet ones work too.

Either way, the OEM mats fit really well. You won't find anything that will work nearly as well at AutoZone, etc, because the shape of floor is pretty weird on the fit. I've seen some custom aftermarket ones that look like they'd be pretty good, and the price is pretty close to the OEM if I remember right.

In you're case, all season mats are more practical. I didn't take your geographical location into consideration.

zachnafarian - This should also be a key factor in which mats you end up going with.

I'm in North Carolina, so I think I'm going to pick up some all weather mats. We do get a lot of rain during the summer.

I put these in my fit -

They aren't OEM and they don't fit exactly like the OEM ones, but they are more my style, they do the job required, and they were less than $30 delivered.

Carpet floor mat recommendations?

I want to get carpet floor mats for my Fit, but I've read posts here that the OEM carpet mats are wearing holes under the driver's heel after just a few months.

I thought about the all-weather mats--they totally protect the floor, and they last longer, but they just look so dirty all the time. I know, the dirt's still there with the carpet, but you just don't see it as much (kinda like in my apartment ).

SO... I'm wondering if anyone has gotten carpet mats they're happy with--ones that fit, seem to be durable, etc.

I have the OE carpet floor mats and I am very satisfied with them. There are no holes in my shoes and my floor mats are still in good condition (I bought my Fit on April 25, 2006 and I installed the floor mats about a week after).

My only gripe is that people that sit in the passenger seat usually crush or kick the plastic hooks. The hooks, after almost a year of use, are now slightly bent.

i just bought my mats cause they are red and black checkered and that's totally JDM and completely freakin' awesome.

but they are quickly wearing through.
plus they slip around a little but cause the floor has that dang rubber insert on the driver's side. oh and the carpet is felt...lawl.

but i recommend OEM Honda.

I just purchased a set of floor mats from Target of all places. They are just the right size and even have a neat design that allows trimming for a custom Fit. They were $24.99. They look great and even Fit in the front seat area with the weird bulges in the floor (gas tank I think). I have not had a chance to take photos, but here's a photo I found on the web. Not sure if it's the exact model that I have. The mats have the Rubbermaid Ultraguard name on the package and are made by Rally Manufacturing. The part number on my mat is #5036. I could not find the exact item on either Target, Rubbermaid or Rally's site. Maybe its new or custom made for Target. Anyway for the price I do not think you can beat it. I have a manual trans and have had no problem with interference or sliding.

I think the rubber/carpet combo is a great idea. Solid rubber looks a little cheap IMHO and solid carpt gets dirty fast and is harder to keep clean.

What color Rubbermaid did you get? What was available? What keeps them from sliding around? Thanks!

I purchased black. There were probably other colors but I wanted black so I was not really paying attention to the other colors. The package says there are "Grip Tight Cleats" to prevent sliding. To be honest, I tossed them in an didn't really pay attention to the back side. I have had them in a for a few days now and the mats seem to stay planted.

OEM carpet's good. What is frustrating is that frontpassenger's have messed up the "Fit" logo, and drives me crazy. The driver's one(mine) its all new. So that could be the only problem I have with em, other than that, great.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the detailed description pmabke. I'll be visiting Target tomorrow.

I'm still a little honked off to find that after spending thousands on a brand new car... it didn't even come with floor mats! It helps to know that I can get some for $25. As opposed to $109 from the dealer.
$151 installed! WTF? Is it really that hard to install floor mats?

Question n00b interior accessories questions...

I'm looking to get a few things for my new Fit, but I figured I'd better ask around before spending my hard-earned money.

My first question was about floor mats, but I think I already found a solution in this thread. Unless the OEM mats are reeeeeeally that much better than some generic ones.

Next is concerning the hatchback/trunk... I like the OEM cargo tray, but $99 seems a bit steep for a piece of rubber. Also the ($165 OEM) cargo cover is pretty spiffy. Any after market alternatives? Or maybe cheaper versions elsewhere? eBay perhaps? Can anyone recommend a seller/dealer?

The last question is about a center console. I miss having an arm rest and a place to store my stuff. I've read a little about aftermarket consoles on here, but to tell the truth, this place is HUGE and I'm a little unsure where to start searching. I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. (And steer me clear of the cheaply made stuff and shady dealers)

Thanks...

p.s.
I'm not really interested in exterior/racing/engine mods at this point.
(unless it's something that is going to improve my gas mileage!)

Installing the OEM (or all-weather) mats includes installing the hooks into the floor that keep the mats from moving around. Some people may say that the hooks aren't needed, but Honda went that route, and it does take time to put them in. That's where the labor charge comes from.

Search the web for 'Honda Fit Accessories" and you'll come up with plenty of places that sell the OEM stuff cheaper than the dealer, you can throw in your own labor and pocket the difference.

Let me know what if you find them at your local Target and what you think of them. Like I said, for the price I don't think you can go wrong.

Check out zetaproducts.net for an alternative to the $150 cargo cover... my dealership wanted to charge me $199 and I almost did a spit-take. They also have a couple of arm rest options (fold up and fold down) that are fairly cheap, though if you REALLY want an arm rest, go to collegehillshonda.com and check out their "import" section for the Fit. There's a true OEM center console that will fit the USDM Fit Sport (NOT the base though), but it's $400 "retail" and out of stock at the moment. I'm sure there's other places to get it but that's the one I know of off the top of my head. I plan to go with it a little further down the road. Hell, I need to GET my car first though. Here's hoping it gets in early next week! (Edit: Or you can find it here at A&J Racing A&J Racing :: JDM Honda Parts :: Fit/Jazz (GD3/4) :: JDM Honda Armrest console - Fit 2007 & UP GD3)

Other thing I'd recommend is a passenger sun visor from the Thailand Fits. Gives you a decent sized mirror, has no stickers on it, and will make the lady in your life happy if there is one.

Got a source for the THDM visors? I've tried and nobody seems to have them. I figured that I would have to settle for a JDM one.
