Talking LOL @ spit-take

Thanks for the links Stephen. That will keep me busy (and broke!) for a while.
And also for the tip on the visor. My wife was a bit disappointed about the stock one.

Not yet unfortunately. I just know what I want (well, what my WIFE wants) when I decide I want it.

has anyone purchased the cargo cover from zetaproduct? if so, can you describe the quality since it's not a Honda OEM item?

Actually I ended up getting a good deal on some Fit parts from a former Fit owner from the forum. (Thanks MarTT) I now have OEM carpet mats in the rear and some kind of rubber hex mats in the front.

Thanks for the info Eric. I've got the hooks for the rear, but haven't installed them. Probably won't unless they just slide around all over the place. I also got a cargo tray and cargo net out of the deal. I installed both of those by myself too. (the dealers want $14 each!)

I may still hit Target and pick up some of those Rubbermaid mats before the next snow season tho.

I've been tempted by the cargo cover, but I just can't bring myself to pay that much money for a glorified window shade. I think I may just invest in a cheap blanket to throw back there. It would serve the same purpose.

Besides... I need to save my money for a console!

Floor mats installation

Hi,
I bought some floor mats online from someone's suggestion on here. My problem now is I didn't realize they needed installation. I was going to try to do it myself but I am too nervous about cutting the carpet-especially since they is no clear specific place where you are supposed to cut.

Can you just through these in like regular floor mats or does everyone think they should be used with the hooks as they are supposed to be?

I guess if I need the hooks I will have to pay a dealer to install them- and spend part of my day at the dealer.

Velcro strips from walmart. Works and no cutting required

I cut the front, it was very easy. There are already squares where you cut, you just have to cut them out. The back seemed like such a PITA that I just set them in. I dont have enough people sitting in the backseats to worry about cutting in the middle of the carpet.

did u buy the factory floor mats? For the front seats, there ARE pre-cut sections of the stock carpet where you just have to "connect the lines" so u can install the hooks. Don't be afraid it's very simple just use a utility knife and read the instructions. When u look at the carpet closely where u need 2 cut, u'll see what i'm talking about. I recommend putting the hooks in for the front seats. For the back seats, don't even bother! one side doesn't have any hooks and the other has 2 hooks that do nothing lol. Just drop those in.

I just dropped mine in and haven't had any issues. Not afraid to cut the carpet, but why both if you don't need to?

Are the Honda floormats any good? When I bought my Fit, I bought some cheap floormats from Pep Boys for $25. I've had the car for a little over 3 months, and I noticed the other day when I was cleaning it out that where my right heel sits on the mat is very worn out. I figure I'll get another 3 months out of it. It makes me wonder what would have happened to the carpetting if I had no mat at all! How do the Honda floormats hold up to constant heel pressure?

I just read this whole thread and I see some people have carpet mats that are wearing out in less than a year. I'll need to find something else then. Do the all-weather mats wear out too?

other mat dealers?

Does anyone have experience from buying from qualitycarmats.com or something similar? Their black berber mats look nice but I'm wondering about anchoring them in. I wonder if Honda/Dealer would sell me the install clips or whatever they are ...

Good lookin' out, pmabke. I found the exact mats you described at my local Target, though they were $19.99. I needed something quick, tough, and reasonably acceptable in the esthetics department, and these really fit the bill. Wouldn't have thought to try them without your recommendation, and I couldn't be happier.

Glad my post helped you out. For the price I figured I could buy 3 sets or so compared to the factory mats. You got a deal at $20. Fit Freak is really a great resource.

I have not driven the car yet, but sitting in it, the Lloyd mats don't seem as if they will move around much, if at all. Warm weather will make this material settle down to conform to irregular surfaces that make the new mats sit a little high in spots due to the cold temps. I ordered the black color for my BOM Fit, and they DO look very good.

Their cutting pattern makes these an exact fit to a high degree, but I am a little disappointed that they do not cover the area under the accelerator pedal. If you get in your car with leaves or mud on the sole of your right shoe, your heel will rest on the mat, but everything else leading up to the pedal will get covered with whatever your shoe brought in. Same complaint with the left side of the driver's mat, but my Zeta Dead Pedal will keep dirt off the uncovered area. In spite of my minor objections,I think that they are worth the $60.00 or so price tag. I don't think that mats HAVE to be heavy just because most of them just ARE.

Anphoe:
Thanks for your original post on these mats. I like the looks very much. Also, the web site AJ-USA.com Performance Cars and Parts carries a lot of other products that are worth looking at for Fits.

Dave
Just wanted to bring this up again. Thanks a ton to Anphoe, these mats are now installed in my fit. Heavy duty, really nice fit, 0 movement, really like the looks. I was surprised at how heavy they were!

EDIT: people interested in pictures of the Lloyd Rubbertite mats that Anphoe found, see his posts on page 5 of this thread.

After one winter season already, my only gripe would be that my mats did not have a finished edge, making the mat more tray-like. The winter slop on my shoes that melts will easily overwhelm the dimples and spills over the sides. I'd recommend some maxi-pads for that occasional spotting Absorbent Pads - Absorbents Online

I grab a few from work and place them beneath the mats and depending on the weather, they'll last thru the snow months. Safety supply stores sell them individually.

I just installed the Lloyd RubberTite mats, too. I love the fit and look, but I noticed there are holes for the mounting hooks. I didn't get any hooks with the mats, though. I don't think they're going anywhere, but I was curious - can I get the hooks themselves? I've only seen them or heard of them being thrown in with the Fit mats from Honda.
