I guess if maybe you like the layed-back drag racing position I could see maybe some interference, but for me it's been a wonderful addition. That is the first thing I noticed when I took it for a test drive, WTF do I do with my right elbow. I was leaning towards the Zeta, but it didn't seem from the pics that they gave much support as they barely extend forward from the middle of the seats. With this baby, on long trips you can slide the armrest forward and get the feeling of being in your favorite recliner at home. Well, not really, but you get my drift.

thanks for your insight, I think ultimately I'll have to somehow find someone that has this JDM console with 5spMT and see how it feels for myself... I think hands down it looks the best and the $300 price tag isn't much to me at this point...

Canadian R32: I ordered the JDM console for my VBP Sport 5MT, and after the initial getting used to having the console armrest supporting my arm, instead of "air", I wouldn't have it any other way. The console pefectly matches the interior, & the storage is handy. BTW, I am 6' 4", so my seats are as far back as I can get them. Hope this helps you make a decision.

do you find the angle of where your arm is in relation to where the shifter is extreme? like it slopes down a lot? that's the only thing I'm concerned with at the moment... well that and getting car first

I cheated and went to Japan. Got the armrest for 23,152 yen (~$190.00) including armrest. Installed it today after adding foam insulation throughout all interior surfaces. It went in easily and it is very comfortable.

So total, with flight, it cost me $1500.00!

Nah, I had to go there anyway.

what kind of foam insulation did you use and is this to preven any type of rattling? does the stock console that's already on the car have insulation in it already?

did you get charged duties and what not when you brought it back? i'm assuming it's a rather large box

Is there anyone on here that auto x's, road races, or canyon runs that has the JDM arm rest? I've seen that many people that just use their Fit's for daily driving are happy with it, but what about the "spirited drivers"? does it get in the way?

please someone chime in on this.

Thanks

I bought 1/2 inch closed cell foam with the adhesive backing from Super Sound Proofing Soundproofing & Noise Control Materiels Prices. I used it to kill noise from the transmission and road from coming through on the underside. I still want to find some 1/16 inch thick open cell foam to line the inside of the box and the cup holder area to keep stuff like change from rattling around.

Works great. I'm not sure if 1/2 inch is really needed because it is thick. I could not use it everywhere as the trim panel would not go back on (doors). In the console tunnel, the stock piece has carpet padding type insulation. The foam fit well in most areas and where I thought it would be close to the body, I used the Damplifier Damplifier noise, vibration and heat damper

I don't hear any noise from the tunnel area.

As for charges, I did not have any. The box really was not that big.

Fit Armrest Vendor

Hello FItFreaks. I'm Atnevon, and a newbie to the forums.

I was curious as to oredering the JDM armrest soon as my Fit is on order. I posted on vtech.net, and got a few links here and there. Someone provided me with this one:

http://www.japanparts.com/db/partsli...aker=7&volkey=

It looks to have to buy the console and cushion seperate. Total for me came w/ shipping and such to around $315. I just wondered if this was a good place to buy this from. I want an armrest, and this looks to be the only good quality one. (I dont like the ones on e-bay)

As for my background. I've worked at a Honda Dealership Service department for around 3 years now. At school at the same time, but port carts and assist warrenty work. Glad to find a very specific forum for my car.

Thanks agian FF

there are a handful of people here in the US that have ordered that piece from Japanparts.com as well as aj-r.com. everyone that I've talked to about it is very happy with it.

ok. I actually just called a&j, and they are out of stock at the moment. They told me too it would be about $400 total USD to get it to me here in NC,USA. From the looks of it, I'll get a phone card, call japanparts, and talk to someone right before I order.

or jhpusa.com. It is another company that is great to get the armrest from. Also jdmland.com.

Where on jhpusa.com did you find the console? I'm having trouble locating it.

It takes looking in all of their categories as they don't have a vehicle search option. jdmland.com is where I got mine I believe...maybe jhp doesn't have any in stock.

Decided to get the folding armrest from Zeta

I read all 19 pages, and looked up all the options. The non-folding ones that are selling on ebay for $67 total looked like a good option, especially with all the storage room. But they just don't appear to extend out far enough.

Zeta has pics of both the folding and non-folding on their site to compare where it lands relative to parking brake. I opted for the extra length of the folding version.

page 6 of this thread has some pics of the installed folding version.

I saw some seller on ebay has two folding ones for $120 total, but decided just to buy from Zeta for $137 total.

Yes, it is true that the arm rest I got from Singapore is a little short on the length of the top padded section -- it would be better if it extended a little more towards the dash board, or had the pull on feature like the one in my Accord -- but for the price, it's still great, and it keeps my CDs from flopping back and forth in the tray in front of the stick shift which was driving me nuts!

I also keep my MP3 player in there so that it's out of site and easy to reach.

I'm still puzzled that Honda did not offer an arm rest when I purchased the Fit, but hey! They do some many things well with this car, I'm not complaining, and the after market guys need to make a living too!

Adios!

Zeta folding armrest

I got the folding armrest from Zeta in mail today, but it really seems to be stuck and locked in upright position. I can't adjust it downwards at all.

When I push the plastic button at front end to release it... nothing happens, armrest is locked straight up with about 2 inches of movement back and forth, and the button just makes clicking sound is all.

Anyone have similiar problem?

Hopefully it's me being stupid... because I don't want the hassle of having to return it.

If you bought your arm rest from Zeta Products, Angelo will take care of you. If you didn't, good luck (you're probably SOL).

It may be a bad ratcheting system. I will rteplace the armrest ASAP. Be on the lookout for an email with return instructions.

We take car of our customers. It is very difficult the get reliable (if any) customer service with an overseas vendor. Dealing with Zeta Products ensures all questions, comments and quality issues are dealt with promptly and to your stisfaction!
