Exclamation Quality Interiors

I was wondering if anyone had ordered the one from Quality Auto Interiors? It costs about 150 and has a extendable top.

I just ordered the JDM oem Honda armrest from japanparts.com

I emailed them a few times to make sure they had the parts in stock and they said yes they are available.

I paid via Paypal with my credit card and with the current exchange rates my total came to $362 with shipping to Ohio USA.

I will let you all know when it gets here and if there are any issues, etc.... I don't expect any. The guy I emailed was very nice and extremely helpful and spoke pretty good English. His name is Koji.

I can't wait to get this thing in. I really miss having an armrest. This will be the perfect addition to my fit!

There is absolutely no reason to spend that kind of money on an armrest. I Paid $60+ with shipping (see my original post) and have an armrest that looks like it came with the car, is beautifully finished, has storage and took two minutes to install (If you follow my instructions it requires no screws or drilling); and on top of all that serves the primary function -- a place to rest my arm. Why would anyone spend more than $65?

rheomode,

I just got my Fit, and I truly love it. It is an excellent car beyond belief for the small price. However, for me, 6'3" and 290 lbs. a good solid armrest is essential and I was not about to go without one.

I looked into every armrest available for this vehicle. All have their pluses and minuses. For me the OEM European version of the center console is the best "fit". I have NO problem paying $360 bucks for something that was designed to go into my vehicle (and should have been included anyway! grrrr....) All of the other armrests were either too short, not sturdy enough, looked terrible, looked like they were jerry rigged to work in this car, or had little to zero storage space. The OEM armrest, while expensive to some, has NONE of these issues. Thus it is my choice.

That's why I spent more than $65.

Amen, brother. Plus it matches the upholstery.

As an aside, when I took my Fit back to the dealer for 6000 mile service, half the sales force came by to see the armrest. A couple of folks took notes on where I got it (japanparts.com) and one told me he had lost a deal to a Versa just that week due to a lack of armrest.

When I first went to test drive the Fit, I got in and immediately said to the salesman "Where's the armrest?" and he said "That's what EVERYBODY says when they drive this thing."

Why did Honda redesign the whole center console sans armrest anyway?

Gixxilla you will not be disappointed with Japanparts.com. I got mine in excellent condition and the install was very easy. Trust me the arm rest made a huge difference in the look and function of the Fit. Some say why spend $300+ for just an armrest. To me its an investment that beats out all aftermarket ones. Best money spend on my Fit.

I have to jump in on the japanparts armrest love. The only bad thing about the armrest (apart from having an extra USDM one hangin' around now) is that it improved my Fit so much, I now want the JDM roof console and map lights, too. Maybe even the door visors. Must...resist...

Got my OEM armrest from Japanparts a couple days ago. Installed no problem. Though I did snap the little plastic thing under the emergency brake. No big deal it's still functional.

Anyway, mine arrived postage due. Anyone else have this? Must be a customs thing. Mine was $21.09 extra. The package arrived safe and sound and very quickly, like 6 days! wow...and it sat in customs for 4 of those days.

Total cost with shipping and everything was $380. Worth every penny to me. Very well made and now I've got some real usable space for my CD's and other crap. Plus an awesome armrest. I was very happily surprised that the armrest does not interfere with my seating position or anything else, and I'm a big guy.

I put some foamy contact paper on the bottom so that coins and crap don't make noise sliding around inside. I also lined the inside of the whole thing with noise killing foam to keep the noise from the tunnel from coming into the cab.

You had a very good idea with the foam liner. I have not yet bought the JDM console/arm rest, but plan to do so sometime in the future. When I do, I will buy some of the aerosol insulating polyurethane foam, from Home Depot/any hardware store, that is used to seal door/window frames in home building, and will apply that to the interior of the console.

Thanks for the tip!

No problem. I bought my stuff from here.
SOUNDPROOFING & More Soundproofing!, Super Soundproofing: Practical Noise Control & SoundProofing Solutions /Materials!

They sell the foam in different thicknesses and lengths. It smells bad when it arrives, but I just weather it outside for a couple of days before installing it.

Just installed JDM Armrest - You have to get one!!!

Just installed my JDM armrest. WELL worth the money!! Fits perfectly, matches the rest of the interior, and you get Honda quality. Makes driving my fit even better than before (and it was pretty good already!!)

Sliding top is a great idea. Push it back for around town and it doesnt interfere with gear changes. Push it forward while cruising and it feels like you are in an armchair (albeit a very firm one!!).

Got mine from AJ Racing in Richmond, BC, Canada. Had to wait alot longer than I wanted to (or they said I would have to), but overall very good to deal with.

Installation took about an hour, and most of that was trying to get the cigarette lighter out of the old console. Otherwise, was simple and straightforward.

Feel free to email me if you are considering buying one and have any questions about install etc.

Drew.

Hey guys,

AJ Racing is telling me that the oem jdm centre console with armrest will NOT fit in my 2008 Fit LX model. Can anyone who has tried and failed or succeeded at installing the console in their Canadian Fit LX let me know if this is true of if I can go ahead and purchase one?

thx

Well if LX is a base fit (meaning no fog lamps, body kit, spoiler, aux, etc.) it might not be a good idea. I haven't see a base interior, but the sport has an aux outlet plug... and there may be some issues there. The jdm center console is made for the sport model.

in Canada we have a base, an LX and a Sport.

the LX has the aux outlet plug just like the Sport and I also have power everything a/c and cruise control. INterior wise all I lose is the leather wheel and shifter, wma capability on the cd player and the black interior. Mine looks exactly the same but is grey. My centre console is exactly the same as what the Sport centre console is like even the color.

Well I shouldn't see any problem then... that is, if Canada fit interiors are indentical to US fits. Ask someone in the canada forums or something.

US fitment

On 07 US models according to the parts list at College Hills Honda, standard equipment part number for base model Manual Transmission and Sport Model AT & MT is the same. part number for base Automatic transmission is different. Apparently Automatic transmission shifter of base model has different bezel than sport model.
