What you DONT like about your Fit
TNX
!!!
I bought a 2010 Fit Sports November 2009. Within a week the battery died twice so I thought I was doing something wrong. To date the battery has died 14 times. The local dealer tells me that my battery is good. I have been stranded several times so I bought a AAA membership, a small battery charger and I keep my Fit on a trickly charge in my garage if I am not going to use it for a few days. Last Thursday I drove 200 miles to and from the Oregon Coast and when I stopped for 15 minutes to pick up a few things the battery died. AAA charged the battery and the man said that there must be something else wrong that is draining the battery. I took my Fit to the dealer to leave it overnight and the service man said, "Are you the lady who just called from the airport parking lot with a dead battery?" Seems I am not the only one with battery problems. When I picked up my car I was told the same thing--good battery. I am writing a letter to Honda Customer Service since the local dealer keeps telling me there is nothing wrong with my Fit. I Googled and found this site yesterday. Anyone else having the same problem?
What I don't like about my Fit?
'12 base, m/t.
1. A and B pillar blindspots.
2. Humongous driver's side windshield wiper, and a miniscule pass.side wiper.
3. No floor mats. Had to get Honda's overpriced one. At least it came as a complete set.
4. Extreme sensitivity to gusty winds.
5. No lumbar support for driver's seat.
6. Lack of engine power compared to many competitors' comparable vehicles.
Apart from these personal "nitpicks", I truly enjoy my Fit. Great gas mileage, perky handling, gobs of storage space, many standard safety features. I think the benefits far outweigh the limitations. I'm looking forward to see how Honda will redesign it when the time comes.

If you have a MT Sport Fit, you would like the little bit of pep and power it has compared to the Automatic. If I have to pick something , I wish the Fit was more comfortable on road trips, that's it - more luxurious. Haaaa
Our 2009 Honda Fit Sport has less than 20,000 miles on it and is in excellent condition. Mywife told me today the fan switch only wrks on the highest selection (4). I find there are two fuses thinking maybe one affects settings 1-3 and one affects 4. The owners manual is useless if finding the interior fuse panel. I found it under the driver's side dash but can't seem find a way to access it without making myself half my size and standing on my head. So far I have found pictures of the panel but no info on how to gain access to the fuse panel. This is the first problem I have had with the FIT and finding infprmation is giving me fits. Very frustrating to do something as simple as checking a fuse should be.

You may have to drop down the other access panel to take that one off, I forget, but the whole bottom of the dash in the footwell area swings down. No screws involved, just pull down and out and it will pop off.
Good luck!

2009 Honda Fit Sport Blower only works on setting 4
Thanks Clicq - appreciate the feedback. George

From the Service Bulletin:
SYMPTOM
The HVAC blower motor works only on high speed.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Excessive current draw from the HVAC blower motor
causes the blower resistor to fail.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the HVAC blower motor and the blower
resistor.

Kim,
Kimi808 - Yes, it is under warranty, thank you. clicq sent me in that same direction (TSB 09-097) and I found the online service bulletin thread that he referenced, called my local dealer and they will repair the car, which is still under warranty, tomorrow. TSB 09-097 says to replace the blower motor transistor pack and the blower motor. Some people, whose cars were out of warranty, replaced just the transistor pack themselves for around $15. In some cases owners reported that corrected the problem, and in other cases the blower motor transistor pack blew again and they ended up replacing BOTH the blower motor and the blower motor transistor pack. They reported the motor costing them around $200. TSB 09-097 gives a nice diagram & step by step procedure for the replacement and suggests that if the car is out of warranty that you could ask the service or parts manager for goodwill consideration. In my case the warranty will cover the work. Thanks everyone for your help. It is much appreciated.
The dealer told me the problem was not the blower motor or the blower motor transistor pack, but a solenoid and they had to get the part. They took me home and called in about 2 hours that it was repaired. After I picked up the car and got back home, I read the invoice. It said they replaced the blower motor transistor pack due to a "shorted" resistor. Being an electrical engineer, I know that resistors typically "open" rather than "short", a relatively minor, but interesting possible discrepency in wording. What was confusing was the difference between what I was told was the problem and what they actually did per the invoice. I also noted that they did not replace the blower motor as recommended in the TSB 09-097. Don't have a problem with that as long as the new transistor pack holds up. Overall the dealership was courteous, friendly and helpful. Their written vs oral communication difference was the only area that was a little less than desirable.

What don't I like? Well, the annoying side decal/sticker trim the dealer installed on the side of my Fit. It's HIDEOUS. Dealer wanted money just to take it off. I'd peel it off, but I'm so afraid of damaging the paint.
Dealer Stickers
I have doubts about the legality of this practice.
I ditto the A-pillar blind spot. It's generally quite good. But as I turn left it blocks what I'm seeing and I have to purposely move my head.
I'll add the sun visors. The car is shaped so strangely that the sun visors are completely useless. I just wear sunglasses now.

For experienced drivers like us, the Fit's quirky handling on windy days is controllable, but if a young driver gets behind the wheel, well...I'm almost afraid to think of what might happen.
