got about 4-5" of wet snow overnight. used my snowbrum to remove the snow off my GE for the wife and drove off in my G. this is only like the 3rd big snow we got this winter. lol. my G was fun in the deep snow, absolutely no issue driving the RWD machine with the LM60's.

but it's all melteing away as temps are going into high 30F's today. 43F by sunday they said... might get lucky to wash my cars.

TGIF!!

only rain and dry days in sight!

been keeping the G's cruising rpm lower during the commute the last few fills and while it's not boggin for the engine it is much lower than i usually drive at. usually i cruise around 2200-2300rpm, but latetly using 1800-1900rpm on flat or slight down hill. seems to help lean the mix quite a bit. i was getting about 15-16mpg, now i am at about 18mpg consistently. this is about what i was getting when i ran pop-charger on surface roads.

while not a huge deal i thought it was kinda nice to stretch the fill to fill interval.

lots of wind today... crosswind + GE = not good. hope it doesn't rain when im out at my kid's school to pick him up. just cleaned my G's interior the other day. lol

ended up the nismo wheels i was looking at... the rear disc cavity between the lug bores was almost non-existent so could not sandwich bolt-on type spacers...so had to let that idea go. didn't feel like taking the calipers off to replace to longer studs, etc. will check out other wheels i guess. im still going to sport my weds the first half of summer this year but thinking the latter half i will sport a new set.... or not.

wife mentioned gas price went up by 0.20/gal in the last few days! but then i was like how big is your tank again? lol 9gal fill = $1.80 hardly anything to worry about.

even at $5.50/gal for premium this summer that will be a tad over $100per fill on my Z which will net me 4 drives each (i have this 90mile+ route i like to take each time). max i can only do 8-9 weekend drives per month due to my available time and most months i have atleast a few rained out weekend days so i would say i fill 1.8x per month.

1.8 x 9months of motoring fun = ~16 fills or $1600 on gas this season. i can do about 20mpg x 20 = 400miles per tank or 6,400miles... that's about the very max i do per season. so i would look at anywhere between $1450~1600 on gas or ~$170/month on gas. no issue.

guess i will take it further and calculate where i'd be with the G which also takes premium gas...

this car i can only get about 17-18mpg at the very best due to congestion and surface traffic. i drive my G only to work and rarely use on weekend so i drive approx 500miles per month. (basically if you take the 6000 annual miles from the G and add to my Z's annual miles i do about 11k-12k miles per year which is normal distance for most people per year).

anyway, going back to my G... 500miles would be about 30gallons consumption per month or $165/month if $5.50 for premium.

so for me i would be expected to spend (at max) 165+170 = $335/month.

Your gas cost alone is what I budget for the Fit's gas, maintenance, repairs, and mods lol. I know you can probably afford it, but I would never use a car that needs premium for a DD, because of the distance I have to drive everyday (45 mi. round trip). For a weekend car though, no problem. I want to someday get a nice, fast coupe like your Z. I'm aiming for a GTR, but I'll probably never be able to get one lol.

hahaha, yah the G was never intended as an economy car so it does require some more funds to keep it running. it might seem a lot to pay for this amount of gas, but it's really nothing comparing to buying another car just for improved mpg/regular gas so it's no big deal for me.

the G does about 23mpg on highway...maybe push another 2mpg if i have aftermarket intake to lean the mix so it's not too bad for commuting for some folks doing longer miles if on highway. for me though, i only do surface streets so mpg suffers quite a bit. but again, i dont care. i luv the car and it's not an issue for me.

too bad GTR has no MT option! it would be too fast, too stable and too boring to drive slow in my area where 95% of the roads are just straight. in that respect, the 370Z is perfect

woot!! rained early am and looks like it's going to be dry until the weekend.

going to set psi on my Z tomorrow night and prep her for the first drive of the season on sat.
rain expected on sunday so i might swap out the G's to summers. not sure if i have that much time though...

while warmer weather is great, it also brings out the stupid in many people in my area... stupid drivers to be exact.

woot, pulled out my Z this am for the first time in 2012. was a great drive. had to keep it calm though as i need to re-adjust myself to the car again since ive not driven for near 4months. she behaves nothing like my G while it might seem they are similar cars. they are totally different.

also swapped out the G's wheels to the summer ssr's. while doing so, i inspected the brakelines, suspension bits and just washed off the salt that was still on the brackets and fittings using my smaller boar's hair detailng brush and some car shampoo. used a spray bottle to rinse it all off.

pressured up the tires and will be pulling her out on monday for work. washed off the snow set and swapped out the floor mats as well.

also put in an order for a new 18v milwaukee 3/8 drive impact along with a full impact metric socket set (short and deep sockets) and wobble adapters, some other stuff.

going to swap out the rear endlinks to powergrids like the front pair i have. the factory endlinks are like 45shipped for the pair but they wear out in like 6-7kmiles since i run stillen swaybars. since im keeping the car for another 20k miles that means i'd need to swap minimum 3 times.. so i just said to hell with it and got the powergrids which will last the remaining life of the car.

next weekend im swapping the GE's wheels to summers and give it a nice wash.
