Welp, its looking like the AutoX won't happen

As much as I'd love to spend my spare car money on enjoying my car, I'm not about to drive my car hard when the brakes feel like they're on their last legs.

Thus, AutoX entry fee will go towards new pads/disks, anyone have a specific combo they recommend?

Just signed up today at Honda Twin Cam for an event on the 19th at Tsukuba. Unfortunately, Tsukuba1000 the smaller course.

honestly, for rotors just get the napa's or the equivalent... they're good, cheap, and will do the job well...

pads are quite the preference... i have hps on mine and they're ok, but i don't think i'd get them again... porterfields are good, as are ferodo and some others...

Hmph. Time to find a proper pad, I loved my HP+ on my Integra, but I don't want dust like them on my new white wheels.

Mike, thanks for the thread. I just signed up for an autocross for May 5th and I got a lot of good info out of it. I can't wait to test out my new wheels and rubber, its been awhile since i've been out on the track.

Other than hawks what other brakes pads do you guys consider good for track purposes? If i rember right I had a set of Hawks on my '99 mustang and they left a lot of dust on the wheels and it was a pain in the ass to get off.

You can coat your wheels with some RejeX as it will allow the brake dust to come off pretty easily and not pit the wheels over time.

did some research, and it seems like stoptech street performance, and carbotech bobcats or xp8's are the way to go...

stoptech for the affordable end... carbotech bobcats for more performance... and xp8's for even more...

I've had my 07 Fit sport out twice now to autocross. First time was with stock suspension, tanabe upper strut bar was the only suspension mod. Car did fine but there was horrible understeer. Second autocross event I had a rear strut bar, the Progress rear sway bar, and I replaced the OE shocks with KYB GR2/Excel G shocks. The swaybar made an insane difference. Understeer was gone but I was sliding sideways pretty good on some of the curves. Achilles 123 semi slick R-Compound tires (200 treadwear) and Konig Gt-20 10lb wheels are sitting in my basement for the next event. Should be fun I might also buy a few extra underbraces.

I ran a small go-kart track yesterday. I will get some videos up in a little bit. Hoping to maybe get a little advice and recommendations for improvement.

Very, was surprised how well I did honestly. I have been doing Auto-X and track days for for about 5 years now, but this was my first time tracking my Fit.

I just got back from my third auto slalom event. I'm guessing I shaved at least 6 seconds off my time by getting some light weight wheels and r-compound tires. I'm running Konig GT-20 wheels (10.8lbs) and Achilles 195/50/15 123 tires. My first two events I was placing 48ish out of 54 drivers or so. This time I'm pretty sure I'm in the top 20 if not better. I'm just debating now whether I want to install a front underbrace I have sitting here.

Hey guys, I'll be doing my first HPDE event at the end of June. Its a 2.5 mileroad course, and I'm currently completely stock. Motor wise

Im on OE wheels with Bridgestone potenze re760 sports rubber for daily, and lowered on swift springs.

Alright now as its my first time, I plan on just running my car as is.

My question to you pros is; I've been really on the fence about upgrading my brakes, but with what? I was primary thinking of hawks HPS, but as I read up there ^ is it worth it over my OE ads?

Second thing I've been on the fence about is getting the progress rear sway bar. Do you guys think it'll be worth it?

I do have more plans down the road such as full coils, RPF1 with Bridgestone re11, and so forth, but like I stated, I'm baby stepping it right now.

The progress rear sway bar makes all the difference. It got rid of my understeer and made the car way more predictable. The best upgrade I've done.

Thank you. Hopefully it'll have the same effect on my GE.

HPS Pads, 5.1 Fluid, and some SS Lines would provide some good insurance and peace of mind.

As you get better they'll let you brake later, bleed speed faster and more consistently when hot.

Eventually you will need a nicer pad than the Hawk HPS if you really stick with it and progress.
