The Post Whore Thread V.2
140,000 miles. And I got it for exactly $4k. But its in absolutely perfect condition. And Im not just saying that. No rust, paint is good, the interior is literally flawless. VW is known for having all the little bells and whistles breaking or being faulty, but they all work. Seats are mint. Ill post some pictures. I honestly couldnt believe. And its been a company car its whole life, so the drivetrain hasnt been ragged out. Nearly all highway mileage. It was really an impulse buy, I just went to look, but it was so perfect I had to.
Also helps that a number of my friends all have vw's lol. mk3 gti vr6, mk1 rabbit, mk3 jetta tdi, mk4 1.8t, vr6 corrado (amazing car), another dude with a b5 a4, I also know a guy with a harlequin golf lol.

It is so nice to drive. And the ge8 5spd seems like a pig compared to this. Super smooth.
Its a ko3s turbo, and the only year the b5 1.8t had 170bhp. 20 more than all other years. I know ill miss getting 37mpg in town, but I had accepted that if I ever got another car, nothing could compete with the fit. I can live with 25, its better than my pre-fit cars.
meanwhile somewhere in FB... a friend working on a customers knockoff/fake wheels...

moral lesson of this story...

Well played, varrstoen. But your fake bolts melted when we stripped the paint. loooool.

Actually, as I looked again, the new products section of the magazine shows some Varrstoen knock off rim being advertised.
I'm kind of indifferent about knock offs. I mean I understand the "moral issue" but for me, my Rotas are a knock off of an oem wheel. And frankly I've never had the dough to spend on real wheels. Plus it wasn't worth it to me. I've got two step kids and all the other grown up responsibilities. The fit is my frivolous venture that I mod with extra cash I make and bday/Christmas gifts. I would love to have some real wheels. But I'm not going to sacrifice weight, nor do I want a used set with paint chips all over. Maybe later in life.
it's rather easy to spot rotas in a glance... varrstoen are about as exact a copy to originals. they only have 3 or 4 wheels in offering... only the most sought after wheels from BBS and RAYS so to speak. a few yrs ago RAYS Eng dropped some of their authorized dealers from their list for carrying varrstoen.
I dont mind reps, as long as you acknowledge what they are and dont try and fake the funk and pass them off as the real thing. As long as your car looks good, it shouldnt matter either way.
For those who complain about companies like Rays losing money to rep companies... please. "Real" wheel companies have been around long enough to recoup any of their r&d costs. And its not like all "real" wheels are forged. Many are cast, so they could easily drop their prices on those wheels. Parts/wheel companies go out of business because of the economy and not a lot of people willing to pay big money.
