I got my Storm Silver Metallic Fit Sport Auto right after it came off the truck in April... and just realized my bumpers are doing the same thing.

So if I take mine to the dealer to get the bumpers repainted what prevents it from happening again in another few months?

Are many people having problems getting the dealers do anything? I have seen very different results from people here... from the dealer not caring to them repainting without question. I'm worried because the dealer I bought it from hasn't sold many so it may not have seen this problem before. If they think I caused this they won't cover it under warranty.

I was thinking I should try calling Honda USA first. Not sure what they would do, but if they say it should be repainted under warranty my dealer can't argue, right?

Maybe I'm worried about nothing.

Unhappy Paint flaking off sport trim

Right under the drivers door the sport trim had 1 spot where the paint appeared to flake off. The first time I just touched it up with my touch up paint but low and behold 3 more spots appeared.

I waited until time for my first service which was today. I had already talked to the service manager on the phone about it Friday so when I showed up today he was right there to look at it. As well as the rear bumper peeling.

He looked at the spots and told the service writer to order a new piece that it would be cheaper to put a new one on than to try and fix that one. .

And when the new peice arrives they will call me to bring it in and they will have it a few days to replace the trim and to repaint the rear bumper. They will also be providing me with a loaner car while it is in the shop.

Mt first oil change was supposed to be free of charge since my car arrived with 497 miles on it since they had to do a swap for it. They held up their end of the agreement and I also had the tires rotated at the same time. All at no charge.

I must say that I am extreemly happy with the every aspect of my dealing with the dealership which I purchased my Fit from and would recommend them highly. The dealership is Jerry Damson Honda/Acura of Huntsville, Alabama and my salesman was Sonny Chandler.

Hi Illusive,

Noticed you are also in Calgary too, I got my Fit just 2 days ago and kinda scary now about the paint peeling issue now!. Which dealer did you purchased from? And you mention you know of a good body shop in town, can you tell me the name of it? As I have a friend that needs her RSX painted.
Also I didn't see any more messages from you about the resolution of the the problem with your Fit?

I have some paint protection film that I'll put on the trim after they replace it. I'll probibly do the passengers side today and cut the piece for the drivers side while I'm at it.

Honda sure cheaped out on the paint. Wonder if they're having these problems with the other models they make.

Took NHBP Sport in today because of the same problem plus on the roof the paint fades then a hole appears in it (I know it sounds wierd but trust me, I'll post pics soon) and it is a recurring problem. At first they told me that they would re-paint the whole front bumper and check with a field rep to see if the bumper is too tight of why it would be doing that and so now they are saying they will basically only do a touch-up jub and what not and that because my car was "dirty" (there were freaking water spots on the hood because I drive almost 100 miles a day round trip to work and back through construction and well, CARS GET DIRTY) and they said that i need to use "proper care" because the water spots were hard water and that appearently eats through paint. This pissed me off because basically thay are using something in a different area from the problem and saying it's my fault their paint sucks and I'm not taking proper care of my vehicle. I wash the damn thing at least once a week! So I called corporate and basically said that if theres holes in the paint on the roof and paint peeling off the bumper then whats next? The cars gonna look like complete crap in a year and I want it re-painted. The will "see what they can do". I'm sorry but if I'm buying a car it should not look like this after 5 months and I want something done I'm ussually not the type to bitch and complain to any company about anything whether its crap or not but this time they pushed me too far. If Honda doesn't know how to paint a freaking car then I don't want one anymore. I deeply appologize for this very long rant but I had to let it out somehow and if you havew read to this point then thanks for listening...

They have to find something to save costs... It's not true that we should take care of the care more than you do! It's not writen in the user's book to wash with a perfect water. Just try another dealership. It's completly amazing their stories isn't it ?

Got the Fit yesterday, but paint problems ??

Vivid Blue Pearl Sport AT

Production#20100

1) after I remove the dealer advertising sticker right below the Fit emblem, some glue remained on the body, so I tried to remove it by rubbing with water+ 100% Egyptian cotton towel and paint scratched.

2) the front license plate was installed properly without any drilling, but it still rubs the bumper; more scratches. (blue bumpers -> white scratches)

The paint scratches way too easily.

"front license plate " On my Fit, when the dealer installed the front plate holder, they only used the side bolts. It was loose so I installed a third bolt in the middle. Look under the plate holder and see it there is a spot for another bolt. Use a self tapping bolt and a screw gun.

it's possible to scratch paint on a modern clear coat by rubbing it with your bare, clean finger. Sand and dust in the wind can scratch the surface of the paint, which will be most obvious on a black car.

For the adhesive goo, use 3m adhesive remover, very lightly with a soft cotton or microfiber towel (i would use cotton, no point in wasting a MF)

You can then follow behind with any commercially available polish, I would suggest the megiars deep crystal polish (comes in a burgundy squeeze bottle)

Sorry to hear about the scratches, but unfortunately this is not an issue isolated to the fit.

I don't blame you for being upset. So far I've been lucky with my paint, but I'm keeping a close watch on it. My dealer offers a free "detail and car wash" whenever one brings in a car for service, but the two times mine has been there they've left a slew of water spots on the car, requiring me to redo the job when I get home. If water spots were truly an issue, I don't think they could use it in my case. But certainly hard water spots will eventually do a job on paint if not taken care of quickly.

God their ignorant "detailers" are worthless....from now one I'm gonna ask them to please NOT WASH the CAR! They always spray and rub..dash polish all over my windshield...on the inside of course. I've been bringing a towel to clean it up afterwards. ...my second oilchange is comming up. yay.

Well, I'm sure it's possible, but practically impossible on any car I've ever owned (I don't own a Fit yet).
