the r18 will work with the gd3 but you will lose low end torque. A sorta local member did this mod a few years ago and the top end pulled ok but he lost lots of low end drivability. Going to 55mm would help out if you were boosted but not so much for na.

look at the crz dyno graph to give you and idea of probably how the gd3 will respond. Granted this is an unturned dyno.

solid green is with the ge8 swapped plenum, dotted green is stock, red is with IMA activated.

Ouch. How much low end torque did he lose actually? Was it drive able though or was it unbearable that he had put back the stock throttle body? Well for NA I would just stick with stock throttle body. But for FI I'd go with the R18 throttle body so it will workout better.

Yes it was still drivable but it would bog down and hesitate when he stomped on it compared to stock. All this was butt dyno however so I have no actual dyno chart to show a low end torque drop.

Just waiting for my intake manifold gaskets to come in. Currently making 103.51 WHP with my automatic and will be doing a simple before and after dyno with JUST the upper IM for a more accurate comparison.

Awesome! Please take many pics/vids and make a thread on your findings.

YESSSSS i've been waiting to hear about this on the upper plenum and TB GE8 on the GD3. Please let me know the dyne results Hootie. I'm curious on a tuned GD how the switch would do.

What do you mean "No GO"? Fitment, power, plug and play, etc?

I'm guessing he needed the A7 (GE8) 55mm throttle body too. IIRC, the L15A1 (GD3) 50mm TB has different coolant routing and doesn't line up. Hope you get it sorted and get mad gainz!

I already have a GE8 throttle body with coolant lines. Didn't try the swap due to time constraints and lack of extra coolant to top off.

The flanges where both manifolds meet do not line up, with the GE8's being narrower than the GD3's. I'm suspecting that the GE8's lower IM needs to be used in conjunction with its matching upper manifold OR needs to have a different lower IM fabbed up.

I searched this thread but the answer was never given.

Will the GE8 front sway bar fit a GD3?
