I ordered 2 coil packs... I will test the ohms on the removed and keep the one i suspect is still good.

Gave myself a bit more ground clearance today. I think the Cusco are getting tired... 8 years old and 68,000km. They still have some spring in the step but I do bottom them out occasionally. I may do KYB struts and Sprint lowering springs eventually.

 

Hi guys! I just inherited my wife's Honda Jazz GD 2007 (pls. correct me if I am wrong here). I started upgrading her 2 weeks ago and so far, here is what I came up with.

New shoes: Volk Rays (not sure of the actual model) 17 inchers wrapped with 205/40 accelera Alpha. The tires are stretched a little so they appear to be really thin.



As I have said, the car was driven by my wife or the driver so the bumper really took a beating. I had it removed and repainted.




I inspected the car and noticed a few dings and scratches. Since this baby is my daily driver now, I decided to have the scratches fixed part by part. I started with installing a sticker/film for the roof for paint protection and that moon roof effect. Here is a pic of it being installed with my friends FD.




I also had the underside cleaned.




So far, here is the finished product.




I do plan on upgrading my Intake, Headers, and Exhaust but that project will come in next year together with front coilovers. The back does not need any more lowering.

Since I am an avid car audio guy, I decided to go with the audio upgrade first. so, here is my next project for the car. Also, if my time and budget permits, I may install an HID retrofit. I still haven't decided on that.

It's up to you. If you have the cash do it. Car will run better and they all are bound to go at some point if one already went. Change all now or change just the dunzo one.

Alternative methods, just replace the blown one. I did that. No complaints. Did that 4 months ago. But now I think another one is going lol

 

I think the LEDs first came out on the GD3, he has a GD1. I saw both types while I was in Japan.

What'd I do today? Bought a pre-owned Honda Fit from 2008! Everything went fine with the Maryland state inspection (1 chip in the windscreen needed epoxy filling), so happy to own one!

I'll likely have to do some maintenance soon. It's been well maintained, but it has 105xxx miles on it, and I don't think the spark plugs / coils have been replaced yet.. But first, enjoying the car and reading up!

I'm very close to DC, within the beltway. Could use some local advice I think.

Planning on replacing (at least) spark plugs soon, don't think that has been done before. Would it make sense to replace the ignition coils at the same time? Valve's have been checked if I understand the receipts correctly, not getting in there just yet Otherwise oil has been changed regularly, steering fluid and trans fluids were replaced as well, not sure if the engine coolant needs servicing?

 

When I changed out my spark plugs, I changed out my ignition coils as well.

At 100k+ miles, you may want to consider the following:

Valve adjustments
Check (and if needed, replace) brake pads and rotors
Adjust emergency brake
Coolant flush
Check water pump
Check timing chain
Check CV boot
Check (and if needed, replace) serpentine belt
Replace cabin air filter
Replace engine air filter

 

Thanks for that advise! I'm a bit shocked by the $50 each ignition coils, instead of the 4 for $48 I found on ebay.. Or are those just bad ones?

 

I prefer to buy OEM instead of aftermarket stuff when I'm doing maintenance. Thus I went with that was originally in the car. The link I sent is prob one of the cheapest that I've seen for OEM ignition coils. They are the ones that I bought, use, and trust.

You can most certainly use cheaper aftermarket ones that are OEM spec, but that would be completely up to you and your finances.

I looked at those and did a lot of reading... you can expect to go thorough several to find ones that work more than 6 months. Then you need to be prepared to replace them a lot sooner than OEM. At the end of the day I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. $50 is pretty cheap for an auto part of any kind.

Speaking of I got 2 somethings in the mail today...

 

Blast... started taking out my coil packs 1 by 1 expecting to find a black tip somewhere but no dice. They all look perfectly fine. And when I took the Ohm meter to them they all test same as the new Beck's. Worried I may have spent $130 to fix a $5 spark plug...
Time will tell I guess.




I suspect the white one is from overspray when the Honda Racing White went on...

 

Thanks again for the advice. In Dutch we have a saying "goedkoop is duurkoop", you get what you pay for. I realize now the same applies here, OEM parts make sense.

So for me the car is running just fine now with old spark plugs and old coils. I know at least the spark plugs belong to regular maintenance, thinking the coils were too. My thinking now is just keeping those until a problem arises, not preventively replacing them.

So today I went and prepared myself for some spark plug replacement. Got a cheap $20 torque wrench, next up is ordering the spark plugs. Looked under the hood, those are really easily accessible! The coil bolts look a bit corroded (would WD40 work before unscrewing them?), but otherwise is looks like an easy first DIY project :-)

 

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on purchasing your GD!

First of all, we don't have power steering fluid since the GD has electric P/S.
If your coil packs aren't bad (i.e. throwing a CEL), don't replace them. The coil pack problem mostly occurs on the 2007 models.

And as for the plugs, people here would mostly suggest OEM Iridium. Personally I went with the NGK Laser Iridiums, others would also suggest Denso IK22/24's. It's not a bad idea to spray a bit of WD40 on those coil pack bolts if it's the first time they're going to be cracked open, but also put a dab of anti-seize on their threads when you put it back.

At least that was what I did on mine @ 100k.

 

Strange, I found 08206-9002 on one of the receipts. That does look Like power steering fluid. Hmmmm better double check it all then.

Well, today I replaced the spark plugs. First one took the longest, and my shock was big when I started the engine and it sputtered.. CEL.. Iex! Oh duh, you do have to reconnect the ignition coil! So all good, engine runs smoothly again.

Old spark plugs look reasonable to me, but I'm certainly not an experienced spark plug reader What do you think?
