Received Letter Safety Recall Drive Shaft ('09)
Got both replaced. Took 2 hours. Paid out of pocket for an alignment. It was overpriced but figured it was worth the hassle of avoiding getting it done somewhere else.
It was raining when I got it done and now I'm paranoid because someone earlier ITT posted about how they avoided a rainy day because water could cause some issue with this repair.

Here's the quote:
I was scheduled to have mine looked at today, but it's raining so I rescheduled. The dealer says they have the parts and can do the work right away. But I don't want to risk getting any water inside the sealed axle system due to the boots and other parts being wet. I know it sounds kind of extreme, but I've had issues with careless dealer service before. I don't think the service techs are paid to take time for things like drying off the area before taking things apart.

Unless the dealer is working on the car outside during a rain storm, I don't see a risk here. And even during a rain storm, they would be working under the car, protected from falling rain.
Am I missing something here?
If you've already had the dealer inspect your axles, have them call American Honda and try to get the replacement authorized by them. If you haven't had the dealer do the inspection, call American Honda yourself and talk to them about why your car was not included in the recall.

I wouldn't be too quick to have your car's axles replaced on your dime until you get a final word from Honda about them replacing your axles under the recall. Not everyone got a recall notice- just cars in the rust belt. Your area could be in the gray area of the recall where Honda doesn't feel like your axles should have been affected with rust because of where you live.. Bottom line is, axles should be replaced by Honda if they're rusty and unsafe- not by where you live. Also remember that Honda isn't replacing these axles out of the goodness of their heart. They're replacing them because the axles have been deemed by the Federal government to be a safety issue with the cars and Honda has been ordered to replace them.
Call American Honda yourself and open a claim with them. Later on, you have the right to file a complaint with the government agency that ordered the axle recall if Honda refuses to do what they've been ordered to do.

I have a case number that I’ll hold on to. There aren’t even parts available…they’re on backorder. Prepaid backorder! I looked at the axle today with the service manager, and it doesn’t need to be replaced yet. There are probably thousands of Fits with the same problem, and we’re all just waiting to be recalled. I’m just going to monitor my axle at every oil change, and also spray WD-40 on it sometimes, as advised,
my guess is that a lot of people who either weren’t sent a recall notice or are unaware of the recall are driving on rusting axles. I’m just hoping to get another 100,000 miles out of mine. Now the axle is on my radar, so I feel okay about getting it checked every 5000 miles or so. Nevertheless, Honda is a corporation, and I’m no fan of corporate greed.

I’m glad you got yours replaced.
Good to have the feedback. Thumbs up for MI.
Hello all! I finally have my appointment for July 28th.
I want to take picture of the axles first, since I won't be waiting for my car at the dealership. Is there a helping hand here that can indicate if I can do so easily? Do I need to go under the car to do so?
Sorry if it's a silly question.

My car is parked in the street since I live on the second floor. I do have a jack and change my own tires, but that's sadly about it. I always mean to take a intro to mechanics class but never came around to it.
