I have a Florida car and live in Florida so no loss of protective covering. I sprayed oil on the dampers just as a precaution. May not make much difference. Others may want to do that too if not in the rust belt. Best of luck. Clay
ugh. this looks ugly. This is after 13 winters. In New Jersey they brine the hell out of the roads.... whether the forecast calls for less than 1 inch or 20 inches of snow.
Same here. I changed my oil today and had a look at mine. They look all rusted without any paint. So I guess I'll be getting two new ones whenever I do the recall.
Do we dare to keep driving ? Doesn't mention not to drive in the 2nd notice . Not sure if we'd be liable if there's an accident due to the axle(s) .
After I got a look at mine last night (for the first time), I had the same thought. I became instantly wary of driving the car.
I talked to 2 local honda dealers today and one of them (a guy at Freehold Honda) didn't even know there was a recall.
The guy at Open Road Honda wasn't aware of any particular problems with the shaft actually snapping.
The thing that would worry me about the pics you took is that your passenger side looks similar (but no quite as bad) to the condition of punx45's when his snapped.

Reason: needed to be more specific
In mid-March, I took my '11 Sport AT / 89k miles (salty winter Pennsylvania roads) in after getting the recall notice. They changed them out since the the remaining diameters were below spec. Sadly, I didn't take 'before' pics since I wasn't expecting to get anything for free from the dealer, but you can see the corrosion on the heavy extension shaft coming out of the passenger side of the transmission. My 'after' inspection showed new shafts on both sides. Also less 'slop' in the drive-line when I stop the car, put into 'R' to back into the driveway. What a bonus!
I just went to the dealer today in queens to have mine (09 MT) checked out. The service dept let me know my passenger side needs replacement, but to come back in a month when they have the parts. I might just wait two because who knows when they'll actually get them. It was good to get it checked out regardless, though i wish they'd told me no parts were in stock, I would have waited.
I was scheduled to have mine looked at today, but it's raining so I rescheduled. The dealer says they have the parts and can do the work right away. But I don't want to risk getting any water inside the sealed axle system due to the boots and other parts being wet. I know it sounds kind of extreme, but I've had issues with careless dealer service before. I don't think the service techs are paid to take time for things like drying off the area before taking things apart.

Hopefully sooner than that for you. I took my manual 12 sport in today to get it done.
Cincinnati area. Called the dealer on Friday after I saw the status changed from ‘recall open parts not yet available’ to ‘recall incomplete’. They said they didn’t have anything in but their system said it was available to order from the local warehouse. Monday I called in and it arrived so brought the car in. I might try calling the parts desks of a few dealers in your area. Make sure they look it up by VIN as they might confuse it for the auto.

I had mine done today. The dealership had the parts kits so they did the work right away. It took about 2 1/2 hours from first arriving to getting the text that the car was ready.
I posted photos of my axle shafts before, showing that the passenger side looked really good while the driver's side clearly had the plastic coating breached with a rusty shaft exposed. The dealership replaced both sides. An added bonus of this work is that you get shiny new rubber boots. Those can sometimes split when they get old, so having them replaced is a major plus in my book.
