What did you do to your GE fit today?
Even colder here and mine started right up so I could move it to other side of the drive and blow snow. Maybe the layer of snow kept it warm? Not sure what the problem is with the Paranoids on here who think it is slow to start. Geez when it gets colder it just may growl and turn over a time or two before it starts. That is normal.
Black3sr, I can remember all too vividly the cold crank issues I've had through the years. Seems like, at the time, there's nothing worse than sitting your ass ina freezing cold car and having it moan and refuse to start. Then comes a 95F day w/ the lawnmower killing you, but at least you can get a cold beverage and sit down under a shady tree.
So, anyway, I do have my cold weather starting ritual that came from driving old Ford pick-ups and beat Chevy Impalas. I get in, place the key in the ignition and turn it to 'on'. The radio and HVAC are both off from the last shut-down, if not they quickly get turned off. I click on the seat belt, right foot goes gently on the brake and left foot gets the clutch to the floor and then I start the car. I then make sure we're in neutral and parking brake is gently on and get out to clear things that accumulated over night.
Peace through modern technology... I absolutely hate those cold starts just to move the car a bit. Hope you let 'er idle a bit so as not to tease the bearings too much_

What you put seat belt on first? I like the ones that are halfway down the street struggling to buckle up. Dumb asses. I can't stand the beeping reminder so I am like you.
Oh yes radio and fan off etc before trying to start those old ones. My 54 Meteor( Ford to you guys down South) had a Flathead V8 and a 6 volt battery. Living in Ottawa where it was brutal cold in Jan. I had to park on street so all winter the battery cables where loose. I would grab the battery and take it in the house every night.
Later on had my 64 Morris Mini. That thing would not start if it was not plugged in. Also had to put in gas line antifreeze EVERY tank or a frozen gas line.
Yes I let the Fit idle a bit.

My 74 Audi Fox conditioned me to buckle the seat belt. Kids these days have no idea that once our USofA government came up with a way to force drivers to buckle up. If you didn't the car would not start. Lame idea, especially when, after a while, things went squirrely and the dang car wouldn't start at all. It was a maze of sensors ending up in a $75 aluminum relay box the size of a box of Marlboro's w/ a 64 pin-out. Finally got a VW parts guy to tell me which pin to snip to disarm the thing.
I've also had my share of British 4-bangers, winter weather, Lucas electrics and endless supplies of that gas-line-anti crap. My Riley Elf had the infamous SU carb requiring an oil check of the dashpot. Make me appreciate my FIT even more just thinking about those 'good 'ol day's'.

Don't need Swifts in this. I swear the Sprite didn't have springs. And the tiny little shockers you had to keep filling with oil were a joke. Yet I drove my first one to East Coast back in Summer of 63.
My last one - I still get to drive it occasionally without the repair bills.

Did you enjoy it? I think most of us have been screwed by UPS of FedEx.
coulda bought myself a spoiler or a bunch of upgrades for $281.23! FML
Finished up my sub wiring and oh my freakin goodness it exceeds expectation by a lot! I'm pretty sure it will only be a few days before the rear view mirror rattles clean off the windshield.
700w RMS JL Audio Class D Monoblock driving a 12" RE SXX12D4 1000w RMS. Loudest cleanest bass Ive ever had by a long shot, makes my Kenwood 650w amp and PheonixGold 12" sound like an Auto Zone all in one integrated sub enclosure.
Just picked up the Fit from the muffler shop - had em cut out the resonator and replace it with straight pipe. $40 out the door and it sounds throatier and growls more at low RPM. DIY SRI + Magnaflow muffler - resonator = AWESOME. No fart can, just sounds like a low restriction subtly louder exhaust setup. Not actually much louder but you can hear a distinct lower and beautiful engine note.
Next up is to finish the front door speakers/dynamat install, then finally tackle the spring swap, Cusco ft strut brace install and Denso IK22s all at the same time...
Almost ready for first oil change too, got my Mobil1 5w-20 and Mobil1 filter all ready! 6350 miles currently, not sure how long I can hold out on the change. I figure anything over 6500mi is good.

Well, yesterday I took my 1-month old Fit on it's first road trip. About 120 miles each way to pick up a new subwoofer for my home theater. When I got home there was a box waiting for me from College Hills Honda, so I unstalled my new K&N air filter and my new red stitched leather automatic shift knob.
Then I went to hang out with some friends. When I walked out to my car at the end of the night, found my driver's side window smashed in and my new Pioneed head unit ripped out...... FML

Did your alarm activate? Any suspect(s) possibly yur friend or maybe friends of theirs or jus' another crime of opportunity?
Either way man, look at the glass as half full and not half empty.....it could well have been yur FiT.
Dayum....sad to hear such bad news, an excellent way to make one feel violated! A-holez have nuthin else to do but rip-off what someone earned to make themselves happy

With all of the evil doings going on lately I'm going to to start using the old 16 year old pickup whenever I will need to park anywhere that I can't have my eye on where my ride is parked.... It's getting to where the criminal element in society is more focused on Japanese econoboxes than Harley-Davidsons.
I bothers me to hear many of the members of our FIT family got violated, robbed, vandalized by thieves... stealing FIT sports rims, sound system etc.
Why is that the FIT is such a magnet for thieves? When I was driving my former Accord for 10 years... no thieves would want to come near my old accord....

I think I'm going to run my Fit through the car wash today, to get rid of some of the salt that accumulated from all the snow we've been having in the Northeast lately.
Then I'll hunker down until the next Nor'Easter passes on Wednesday.

I am extremely proud of my FIT today after a dentist friend of mine mentioned that he only get 12 MPG for his Audi SUV and 17 MPG for his BMW, both requires higher 97 Octane gasoline. His fuel up costs for higher octane gas for each vehicle is about $150 per full tank lasting about 300 miles for each vehicle.
FIT's full tank is approx $35 lasting about 300 miles as well
