I don't believe you.
actually, I thought the 5 posts (including the OH guy) were from five different people....

silly me, they were just having a conversation...
Probably not. But remember the '09 is packing an additional 9 hp, which costs fuel. Still, such a marginal increase in fuel consumption means the '09 likely is more efficient, with better BSFC figures. Or more efficient gearing. Or both.
Is it worth paying for nav to have optional VSA?
After talking to two sales managers at two dealerships, the fact is nav and VSA can not be had individually, they are in fact a package (or bundle).
The first dealer (3 miles from home) has a storm silver '09 Sport auto coming some time in mid September (supposedly built week of August 4-11). Has nav and VSA. He has reserved the car for me at no obligation to take it, and with no depoist needed, just my word. Said he can go $500 under msrp, taxes, tags, no extra fees.
Second dealer is fifteen miles away, he has a storm silver, '09 Sport auto coming first week in September (he says), no additional options, full MSRP, no discount, $500 deposit refundable only if vehicle comes in with physical damage.
I trust the first guy. He was recommended by a common business interest, AND he showed me the work on the car that listed the forecasted build date and color and options. He promised to call with the VIN# when it's transmitted to him. The manager at the second dealership produced no build documents to validate the vehicle's existence, and quite frankly, I was having trouble believing him.
Is it worth spending $1,300 more (presumed $1,800 cost of nav/vsa minus $500 discount) for a sure thing? Part of me says yes, and part of me says that on a car that has rear drum brakes and no automatic climate control, adding high dollar factory nav to get vsa is ludicrous, that my best bet is to keep total cost down. Like I said, though, the second dealer didn't authenticate shit, so that vehicle may not even exist.
When the car with nav/vsa hits the dealer, my guess (and my manager person's guess) is that MSRP will be $19,800 to $20,000 with transportation, if not more. I just have to feel that when this car comes in and I drive it and bring out my fine tooth comb, that in the end it'll be worth $19,500 +/-, I sure hope so!

wow and wow.
the dealer I left my 250$ deposit with wanted a 500$ deposit, but I talked the salesman down. he had to go ask his mgr and call me back, but it worked. also, they said it is refundable if I don't like something about the car. he specifically said that if, after a test drive, i didn't like the car, i would have the money back.

I would think this a must-have for any new '09 Fit (when it becomes available), though $180 something plus shipping.

At least, it's right out of Honda parts, along with other nice stuff like all-weather mats, wheel locks, cargo mats.... most not available yet, just like the car.

Yeah, I've even considered an '09 Mazda 6i Touring (2.5 PZEV I-4) with mpg 21 city/30 highway. If I keep the options down (to Fit standards), I could probably walk out the door with one for $23,000 right now, and considerably less a year from now.
I'm fully aware that the price of a loaded out Fit is impractical at this moment in time, what it will be a year from now is anybody's guess. Have you looked at the price of a used Fit lately? Talk about impractical.

I'm tending to agree with you; yet, I'll reserve final judgement till I see and drive the car for myself.
When considering the true cost of ownership over five years (factoring in resale and fuel efficiency), the '09 Fit may still be a solid value, especially a base or sport without nav and vsa.

VSA has been described as the next best thing to a seat belt. It will save many lives. To bundle it with NAV yanks this very important feature out of the hands of many people who would buy this car because they wouldn't be able to afford an additional $1850.
For me, NAV is useless and a complete waste of money. In 30 years of driving, I think I got lost once.
I'm not saying I'd buy one, but you can buy a Scion xD with VSA as a separate option, not bundled with crap you don't need.
Ther are a lot of new, fuel efficient cars coming out in the next year. So if this turns out to be true, I'll pass on the 09 Fit.
If this is true, and you cannot get VSA separately, it's a complete load of BS!

There's no question, if I had a year and a half to wait, I too would look at other options like the 2010 Ford Fiesta; unfortunately, my choice will must be made with the current offerings in the marketplace.
At this point, I guess I do value VSA enough to take the whole package, whether I want it or not. A vehicle this small can not have too many safety features like ACE and VSA and active headrests and.....

Don`t think it will fit with the Sport seats with the built in arm rest.... maybe on the base version... but not on the sport..??
How do you know the North American version '09 Sport has the narrow seat-mounted armrests. I remember seeing them somewhere, but assumed they were JDM version.
