2009 Fit
I actually anticipate the car being here sometime in September or October based on what others on this forum have said, but I definitely won't be disappointed if it comes at the end of August. I forgot to mention previously that most of the dealers indicated wanting to sell the at or near MSRP (MSRP+$99 was typical), but the deposits ranged from $100 to $500.
I have bough 6 Hondas from my local dealer so we all know each other. A few weeks ago I stop by and told Jim that when he ordered 09 Fits I wanted a Black sports Auto. So last week he called me and said I got you one and it will be built on Aug 22nd, don't look for it until the first week of Oct. He has 8 on his first order and 5 of them have been sold. I don't see how it could get here any sooner. Think about it, Its got to be loaded on a boat [with others] and go to California. Then it has to be shipped to Baton Rouge La to a staging lot. Then it has to load on a truck to my dealer. There is no way I'll get it any sooner.
i was told today that my car should arrive Oct 2nd. I am number 3 on a list of now 40, they are getting 8 in also. I dont think they are even allowing others to get on the list because of the length of time it will take them to fulfill the request.
Hahaha....its not a photochop. My friend sent it to me today from Huntington Beach, Cali. Honda sponsors the US Open Of Surfing there.( and has for years I think.) They get like 300-400 thousand people over 10 days time there. My friend said it was mobbed there today. You can read more about it here. I asked him if any new Fits were there, but he said only the sand one.
-------BREAKING NEWS-------
Honda has finally responded to complaints on this board about the nose of the 09 USDM Fit being 2 inches longer and have now taken drastic measures to "improve" the look.
Thanks a lot guys!

CAR NEWS: 2009 Honda Jazz In Detail
The 1.2-litre engine achieves an exceptional 55.4mpg (combined), while CO2 emissions are also improved, at 120g/km. It’s a similar story with the new 1.4-litre engine. Compared to the previous i-DSI unit which produced 83 PS and 119Nm, power is up to 100PS and torque is 127Nm with fuel economy from 54.3mpg (combined) for the manual model. CO2 exhaust emissions are as low as 123g/km.
I would love to see 40 plus mpg on the window of my 09 Fit when it gets here.

They will only give us the BIG engine with worse FE
Hey guys I'm seriously considering buying a 2nd gen (09 and later) Fit to replace my aging 2000 Corolla. What kind of bugs me about is that it has disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear. Is there a reason why it doesn't have discs brakes all the way around? For a car like the fit, would I feel a difference between discs and drums if I were to drive it like I would at an Autocross event? Is there a way to replace the drums with discs if necessary?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

(My 2007 LX auto had a window sticker with 36 City and 50 MPG Hwy back in April 2006. By Canadian standards at that time.) I get an average 41 MPG. Imperial over the last 2 1/2 years.

Honda uses drums because they are less costly and weigh less, both very important on an economy car. Plus they are perfectly efficient, and I highly doubt anyone could tell a difference. The biggest downside is that they don't dissipate heat as well as discs, which is not a problem on the streets. I'm not sure about Autocrossing, though.
Doesn't your Corolla have front disc, rear drums as well? Even the 2009 Corolla has that setup (except the XRS), and the car has both more horsepower and more weight than the Fit.

Hey all, I'm in my infancy in Fit-freakdom, but I've done just about as much research as one could do on the '09. I talked to my dealer today about switching my '09 pre-order (put $500 down a few weeks ago) color from black to TW. He said it will be made middle of August and then to allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. This is actually the second time they've said that. So i expect it no sooner than middle of Sept. But more likely first part of Oct. Just thought I'd let ya'll know a realistic time frame (for the Mountain West anyway). CAN't WAIT! I'll be updating as soon as i get more info!
