I was worried to death about keeping my car parked for 2 months, but I shouldn't have been. Full tank and Sta-Bil, increased tire pressure, battery tender, dryer sheets to keep out mice, and steel wool in the tailpipe----I had no problems at all. Don't forget to undo all the things you've done, though!

Ok, while I am not really worried about something happening to me... since the odds are so small. I did call and get a case number as well as contacted my local Honda dealership and got them approve of a rental car. I need to drop it off tonight. So hopefully that speeds up my repair.

Dealership called, Enterprise will have a car waiting for me today at 3:30pm.... let see how fast it gets replaced now that its on their dime.

Thumbs up Just as it was, just as it should be.

My Fit has been back on the road for about a week now, and everything is just the way it was before it went into recall-bernation, except for the battery which needed a jump start and a charge. Even the tire pressure was good. I filled it up for the first time since February today. It's awesome having it back!

I had one briefly and hated the random harmonic noises the engine made going through the gears. Very roomy and good car otherwise.

Just got the recall noticed for my Fit. Do you guys recommend me calling Honda or going to the dealership.

I would like to get a loaner car if possible.

Thanks

Call American Honda first to get your case number.

Only if your insurance will not cover it.

You should just call the dealership and make an appointment. This has been covered so many times in this thread.

You shouldn't have to pay for the insurance regardless since you're the one being inconvenienced. California may be weird with the insurance laws and rentals, who knows. I wouldn't pay out of pocket for anything, though.

I got my rental last Friday. Gotta say, I am loving the RAM 1500 Hemi I could put the fit in the bed and I must say, riding high is a welcome change. Honda would be better served if they offer up versions of their own cars for rentals... because, yeah.

did you have the ecoboost v6? I am now debating on my next vehicle to be a F150 or a RAM 1500.

No, it was the base n/a v6. I thought the badge on the rear of the truck was the ecoboost badge when I saw the truck as they were doing the paperwork, but I later realized the ecoboost truck's badges are on the sides towards the front of the trucks. It was just a flex fuel badge on the rear.

I bet the 3.5L ecoboost is fun though! 365hp / 420tq...not to mention the gains you get with just a programmer! The 2.7L ecoboost doesn't respond nearly as well to mods, I've read.

But I'm in a Fit because I'm poor lol, so no big truck is in my future, although everyone says I look at home in a truck since I'm 6'4" 300lbs...

Yeah, my fit is paid off, right now just chillin in the gated lot. If I am out of service for a month I am going to require Honda to extend my extended warranty for the amount of time I have been without it.

I am a big guy and I do love the size of the truck. This is going to be a 2019ish change if anything.

Read that Honda is recalling something like an additional 20 million cars for airbags. It's pending some sort of report from either Takata or NHTSA that comes out on the 16th. I gotta say if my Fit is recalled again (presumably for either passenger airbags or side airbags) I don't know if I'll turn it in for a loaner again :/ The time frame for the new recall extends to December 2019.

I've only had my car back for a couple weeks and I'm not sure I'm willing to part with it again.

I hate trucks with fiber of my being.

How high the Fit sits is one of my biggest complaints.

There's a 30 day check up? I've had my rental since April 2nd, but no one told me to bring it in for that. There are a couple of issues with the rental (squeaky brakes and wipers that streak the window), am I required to report these issues to Honda or Hertz? I figured they must already know these things.
