70-80mph in an AT it revs about 2,800-3,000 rpm in 5th gear and it does not sound loud at all. As long as you keep it in 5th gear while going 70-80mph you will hardly notice the SSI. going 70-80mph in 4th gear for an AT you'll notice a slight humm bc it will be past 3,500rpm (which is when the nice roar starts to happen; I think it is also when VTEC kicks in)

EDIT: I realize at 70 mph on an AT, with regular stock box it should be at 2.5k RPM. I am assuming with a clean air filter on an SSI it should be at 2.5k RPM as well.

Mini- review note: After almost one year with the SSI on my AT Fit, I thought there was almost no difference between stock and SSI besides the nice sound you get with the SSI. I stand corrected today when I was trying to make a fast start into a left hand turn from a stop. When I punched the gas, there was a little nudge and no quick push through first gear.. something I had experienced with the SSI for the past year I have used it. SO, the SSI did improve throttle response noticably for me. ALSO, downshifting gears on the freeway.. I noticed with the stock box a lack of 'extra juice' that was available for me to squeeze out when i stepped on the gas. Something I experienced with the SSI when RPMs are above 3,500. So if its anything I got out of the Supa Sucka Intake..
-noticable improvement in quicker throttle response
-a few extra horsepower that is noticable when above 3,500RPM.
-Since going back to stock, I just realized going up hill I have to drop to 4th to feel any power going up hill. I think when I was in 5th gear going up hill, the pedal was literally all the way down! When I had the SSI I didnt have to go to 4th I had enough power to get up the hill without going into 4th.

I suppose that is typical of chambered intakes, but I just wanted to let everyone know another FF member knows the SSI really does what it says! :-)

I really don't hear my SSI at all when I'm going 70 and I believe the rpms are around 3k-ish. Sorry, I haven't had to go 80 on this rock yet. I hear a nice throatiness if I have to downshift to 4th on highway inclines.

I just got a new battery, 51r,
I was wondering how you guys got the
battery on, since the 51r is so much wider
then the original battery?

hfit has a noticable 'burst' of initial response. higher rpms feel you're getting a lot of power. prm has a feeling of overall power increase throughout. hfit is louder than prm, more noticeable difference when going uphill hfit has deeper tone prm has a less deeper tone. IMO i loved the sound of prm. hope that helps

Thumbs up

The best difference with the PRM after taking off the "I Was A Supa Sucka" is a PALPABLE seat-of-the-pants increase in power. You will feel it. And the intake's mouth is closer to the fenderwell cold air duct. I packed foam around mine to insure cold-air only and the foam blew out at 70 mph, so there is some ram air effect possible. I reinforced the foam and I am very happy with the sound that clearly emanates from that fenderwell. You can clearly hear the VTEC effect and it is like playing a musical instrument, only not loud enough to be annoying...

Thanks for the comparison H-Fit Supa Sucka Intake vs. PRM intake info. PRM intake seems to be the better intake.

xm8: i would like to part with my SSI. I have two chambers, one repaired, and one filter. The new bracket is a lot better than the original. But you may have to go to a hardware store to get the proper length bolts to firm it up on the OEM engine bracket.
I have gone back to the OEM intake with K&N filter. I did not really notice any diff with any aftermarket intake on the little 1.5 in the FIT. A cai would have been a better item to buy: but I would have to take off the plastic bumper each time I needed to change my K&N filter. Wash and clean that is...
I really do not notice any real action with that iddy biddy engine "v-tec". LOL
But recently I did get a real boost of power: got the dealership to change out two of my coil packs. You'd think I had a brand new engine! Even one of my carpoolers said he actually could feel the diff!!
