sorry mr squirtle but, i got a little upset when somebody tells me to f-off when i catch them in blatant lies. i want FI in my car and i bet many members here would like to go FI also and we NEED to have valid #'s to make an informed decision before spending a few thousand dollars (i don't know about the rest of u but 3-5 g's is a hefty sum).

I was talking to BOTH of you.. Thats why we have report a post button... I agree the 40-60hp out of the box is not correct, but there is enough info that someone doing research would notice that right off the back.

Can someone explain something to me, how can there be such a big difference between the T1R and HKS turbo kits when they both use T25 turbo's?

the t1r is ball bearing and the hks has tiny mice inside on using the spindel as a running wheel =P

  • T1R has 310cc injectors whereas the HKS kit uses stock injectors (185ccc? i think)
  • T1R has a Cat Delete Down Pipe whereas the HKS kit is CARB legal so it cannot have the catalytic converter removed
  • T1R has Greddy E-Manage Ultimate (the E-manage Blue only pulled 145hp @ 6psi, the Ultimate makes 165 @ 6psi), the HKS uses its own F-Con tuning and probably isn't tuned as aggressively as the T1R since it uses stock injectors and cat.
  • T1R kit also comes with a Blow Off Valve whereas the HKS kit doesn't include one (Not sure how this affects peak power, but it can affect the turbo if the pressure isn't released during shifts).
Those are the main differences. If you were to take the HKS kit, add a cat delete pipe, bigger injectors, a BOV, and re-tune the F-Con for better fuel management then you would probably have similar numbers to the T1R kit.

A turbo'd car needs fuel and needs to breathe. The HKS kit retains some stock components to retain is CARB legalness. Where the T1R kit doesn't care if its CARB legal so it's all about the ponies with them.

HKS doesn't make 60whp. HKS claims a 30% increase over stock with the addition to spark plugs, and exhaust.

I think they dyno'd to ~127whp over stock which is around 90-95whp.

I called HKS and a tech rep said they got about 127-130 out of the company fit. "The reason for small power gains is simply for the kit to be CARB legal. The kit also does not come with BOV as it allows the customer to choose from the different SSQV BOV's they offer".

I am sure that if you add injectors, cat delete, and re tune the Fcon IS that comes with the kit, I am sure you can get more power from the HKS Kit. The BOV wont make a difference on power as its just to release system pressure so you don't get compressor surge. Only thing is you need need to contact a Authorized HKS Pro Dealer to tune it for you.

I am saving my money to get the HKS kit from SP Engineering as I need the CARB EO Number.

to those that have this. What are you averaging on MPG if you're easy on it for DD? I do a lot of highway driving so assuming im driving constantly for 40 minutes at 65mph what can I expect?

I misunderstood your "lmao". How was I supposed to know you were being sarcastic?

I was stating the fact that the HKS kit couldn't make 60whp unless you added the listed mods that the T1R kit already has.

I don't know this for a fact, but the hp would be increased significantly if you added the cat-delete, bigger injectors and retuned the HKS F-Con.

Either way, none of this matters to me anymore.. in about 40 mins I am calling Ben @ AJ-R to order my T1R turbo kit.

40 hp is 30% MORE then 30 hp!!!
60 hp?!?!?!?!?!? 60 hp is almost a 70% increse (nearly double the stock hp to the wheels)

please, we all like the hks kit, but u insult everybody's intelligence with your "national enquirer" style reporting

out of curiousity what do u think your car does in the quarter? 12's?

now i can retract my apology, when i said 40 to 60 hp i was DEAD on. i dyno'd today with just hks turbo and i did 145 hp so if the fit dynos 90 stock then 145 is just 55 away so i was right so now you can go smoke crack

Its not carb legal as he has a cat delete. I made the vid, uploading and Im editing pics soon.
The car was dead on 5psi. And the HKS tune was pretty damn good.

It also put down almost 140ftlbs.
