The reason I ask...the tank should last longer than 300 miles so I'm wondering how you calculated.

My (albeit very unscientific) method is to fill the tank all the way, until it won't take any more and reset the trip odometer. I then wait until I get really close to empty and refill all the way again. I then divide the trip odometer number by the exact amount it took to fill the tank.

I am not expecting gas mileage miracles, but it would be nice to average 35 mpg. I do about 70% highway and 30% city. I am wondering how much the high revs at 80 mph will hurt my highway numbers. That will be a seperate test down the line, once the car has about 5000 or 6000 miles on it.
This is how I figure mine as well or by taking the last receipt and current to calculate exactly how many gallons were used divided by the mileage. I am averaging between 35-40mpg mostly highway driving at speed limits (sometimes a little over on highways ) Lately I noticed a little less power to get up and go which I assume is spark plugs as all maintenance, new tires and shocks were done. I tried to change the spark plugs but the screw holding the tower on, #1 was tight all the way out, #2 snapped the head off and I had to drill it out and use a bigger screw with a nut so I didn't attempt #3 and #4 and just left it like it was. So I bet the plugs are original to 2008.

10.5 liters per 100 km ? According to this calculator, that comes out to 27mpg. Pretty bad, in other words. My 2011 MT Fit Sport gets about 36mpg (7.8 liters per 100km) in combined driving.

I stand corrected. My 36mpg is an outlier according to fueleconomy.gov -- the 2011 Fit is rated at 29 mpg in combined driving.

This is what I have been averaging lately. AC on, spirited back road driving along with idling at work before I start. Went on a highway trip and reset the gauge and it was up around 32 with AC on. I don’t track my MPG I just drive the car but when I wasn’t using the AC my average was above 30 when I would think about looking at it.

Just had my first fillup in the 2004 1.3. It's around 7l/100km or 33.6 mpg or so. It's winter but that still seems pretty bad. I kept it under 120km/h (75mph) on the highway but might be giving it too much gas around town, we'll see. Hopefully it'Il get better as I get used to it because I could do just a bit worse (7.5-8l) in a Miata with double the power if i babied it.

Much better results on big summer trip. mostly highway, maybe 15% country roads and 5% city. Some stop and go traffic on the highways, otherwise kept it at around 120-130km/h and 100 off the highway. No AC because it's broken

The average over 700km was 5.5l or around 42mpg, which seems pretty damn good considering I didn't hypermile at all.

I'm getting about 29 mpg, which makes me very happy.
My previous 3 vehicles got much worse gas mileage.

Whoa, just did 5.2/100km aka 45.2mpg over 535km. Mostly country roads going through small towns, so either 50/100km/h. A bit of highway where I kept it around 110km/h. Highway is definitely killer since on the way there I went like 140km/h and got 6.2 or something like that.

Probably won't be able to do any better since winter is approaching. But it should be definitely possible with better tires, fixed EGR valve (apparently up to 5% reduction in BSFC) and driving a bit more carefully. Might be possible to get under 5l, haven't seen that yet.

Did you calculate using the Fit’s built in calculator or did you track fuel at fill-ups and odometer?
