3rd Set of tires.

Hi All,

My 07 Fit Sport now has 114,00 miles on her.
I am ready for a new set of tires. I didn't like the factory ones, but still got 67,000 miles out of them. I have BF Goodrich Traction T/A now and they didn't impress me much either. But, getting them at Sam's Club with free rotation and balancing was a nice bonus.
Sam's has limited choices, right now the choices in 195/55/15...

Dunlop Direzza DZ101
Goodyear® Eagle GT®
Dunlop Signature
BF Goodrich Traction T/A

I drive alllllll the time into Boston and all over the area.

All these are 85-100/each

I was considering the
Falken Ziex ZE-912.

Delivery for Sam's is free. Others @ $40.

M/B @ $15/tire no matter where I go.

Wet road performance is a consideration seeing I spend so much time driving.

Thanks, covrc

Will a 195/55r15 on a Konig Helium 15x6.5 ET40 rub on my 09 fit base? What about a 205/55r15 ?

The wheels will fit fine. The 195/55R16 would be a little tall but should be fine. I like the 205/50R16 a little better.
If I can help let me know.

I'm trying to stay away from 16" wheels, I was talking about 15" tires. Well, I'm trying to keep rotational mass down, which is why I'm going with 15" wheels. I'd love to put 205 tires on, but I also would like to keep some fuel economy.

Trying to keep the rotational mass down a bit. Heh.

Sorry about that. I meant 195/55R15. You would still be fine with the 205/55R15 if you want to go a little wider.

205s are fine, trust me. Jim have your installers had any trouble with breaking the TPMS sensors when mechanically mounting 50 or 55 series tires on the OE rims?

Question Question for Jim . . .

I have the 2009 Fit Sport.

I want to use the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max in size 205/50/R16 with the Enkei RPF-1 wheels(in 16x7 w/ 43 mm offset) that you have at TireRack.

Will this combo work without any problems?

I don't want to have to change camber or anything. Just get them mounted and go.

(I am keeping my Fit at stock height with no suspension changes.)

I'm ready to order them now, if so.

grtpumpkin,

We have not had a problem. There are just a lot more vehicles on the roads now with the sensors. I would always let the installer know that the car does have the TPMS.

jrlnc,

Those should not need any modifications. If I can help with the package let me know.

There are several members reporting problems with 16" +42 wheels with 205/50/R16 tires on 07's and 08's. Mostly the clips rubbing in the rear and on large bumps it tends to bottom out. A lot of people are saying the newly designed 09' is even more sensitive to rubbing with that offset. Expect some minor rubbing problems.

A lot of people have been switching to 205/40's in that situation, unfortunately I don't see that tire offered in that specific size. I really don't know if +43 will totally get you into the clear. +45's offset wheels usually do the trick.

Also Note; the RPF1 "type II" come with a very usable +45 offset in that size. Have a read through this thread, it seems to meet the criteria of what you are looking for;
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...el-thread.html

Anyway, the thing is if you start rubbing even slightly you can kiss your gas mileage & tire life goodbye! If you ask me, better safe than sorry

lol, I do design drawings all day long. There is a big difference between what happens in from paper to practical terms in some cases

Some suggested reading; lots of good information on this thread (for you too Jim, lots of people taking about mounting rims and exactly what kind of tolerances there are for the 2009 Fit)

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...s-caution.html

Basically a 205/50/R16 setup on a +43 tire is pretty much garunteed to Rub on a 2009 Fit with stock suspension. People can get a 205/45/R16 (+42) to just barely work in some cases. The 205/50/R16 is just too tall though.

It is reccomended to use +45, that is your insurance to get a good fitting tire.

In JRLNC's case he is asking for a trouble free setup. I am not sure why Jim is reccomending something so blatently on the edge.

Hope this helps

195 vs 205

I have a 09 Sport and just got a new set of 15" Rota Subzeros +40.
Should I run 195/60 or 205/55 on stock suspension?

Right now the tires have on 205/50, but they are smaller in diameter compared to the stock 16s. I think 205/50 would have been good for the Gen 1 Fits, but not the 09s.

Anyone have two cents???

195/60/15 would be closer to stock diameter. 205/50 is better for 16" wheels.

I would say either the 195/60R15 or you could go with a 205/55R15 depending on the width of the wheel. If I can help with the tires let me know.

Hey, I really like the look of these wheels from the VW Gti. Anyone know a manufacturer that makes something close to this for the Fit?

Question: If I get 15x7 wheels and lowered on Eibach Prokit, what offset on the wheels would be the safest so they don't rub?

Well today I installed my new tires. Went with 205/60/15...even tho its more than 3% past oem. SO far raised the car up a tad...filled out the wheel well...and def. more stable when turning. Only downfall so far is turning the wheel all the way one direction, which causes a bit of rubbing on the plastic liner...besides that not bad. Gonna have to go thru couple of tanks and see how it affects mileage. Happy for now....just thought I would share this info..................

BTW.. they are General Altimax HP....awesome rating at tirerack.

Will the stock tires from my 09 Fit Sport work on Tenzo-R DC6's? They're 16x7.

Short answer: No.

Explanation:
The most you can stretch that 6" wide tire is 6.5". I would not put that tire on a 7" wheel.

For a 7" wheel, you need a 205 width tire at minimum. Personally, I would go with a 215 width.
