Sweet! My ScanGauge is in my grubby little hands! I'll plug it into the car when I go get some grub later.

Any tips on how to get it going? The manual doesn't break it down into sections... but I'll give it a read anyway.

setup the scangauge with these settings

engine: 1.5 Liter
engine type: gasoline

fuel cutoff: mine is at 17 (but scangauge manual says to add 4 to the TPS gauge gives you when the foot is off the throttle. so for me when the foot is off the throttle, TPS reading is 13. so 13+4= 17 for the fuel cutoff)

tank size: put it at 10 gallons at first. There is a section in the manual that tells you how to adjust to the correct tank size on your next fillup.

I think those are the main ones you need to get it started, i missed a few because i'm going off memory

I can tell it's going to be addictive! I already set up a couple of the trip gauges (today economy and tank economy) as xgauges.

I would like it if you could save a set of gauges as a screen, and have multiple screens you could switch between, instead of just cycling each individual gauge.

The ScanGauge will be an excellent tool in monitoring driving habits. Everyone should get one!

xgauges

Hooray! My SG showed up yesterday. Love this thing! Already installed and did a first fillup. I programmed trip MPG, day MPG and tank MPG as xgauges , just showing trip mpg on gauge screen along with rpm, realtime mpg, AIT. Tried to put in tank distance (34) but nothing shows - anyone else tried this? I suppose I can just use the dash trip display for this but I wanted to check if they would measure the same for a tank or two, and if not adjust speed setting on sg. Any other highly recommended xgs?

I'll post a pic later. =)

Not an Xgauge, but I would leave water temp up (°FWT) as the "cold" light will go out long before the engine is actually warmed up.
125°F - Cold light goes out
173°F - Engine is actually warm

It's in the manual in the xgauge section... it tells you exactly which numbers to enter.

"00" for the TXD. Manual has more detail - page 30, http://www.scangauge.com/support/pdfs/SGMan5_0.pdf

Here's one more vote for above the steering col.

Same here HP is less than I would expect. I may just delete that one. Was more of the coolness to try it. I may have gone WOT 5 times in 5000 miles

I only have current mpg as an X

I use trip Current and the reset, to help me see how it's going when doing something. It's very helpful. Try it.

I have yet to see one user that can look at the instant MPG and say it's this or that when driving. It's just all over the place. The X gauge Current can't be reset from the gauge view but can in the Trip view.

I set up tank MPG and today MPG as two xgauges. With those on the right side, I have instant MPG and GPH on the left.

Nifty little gadget. Gotta put gas in the car tomorrow or monday... so a few tanks, and we'll see what the numbers show.

Today, I drove about 35 miles, and averaged 35.2 mpg. Not bad! I can tell the feedback helps, and I'll be able to wring out a couple more MPG.

Can the Scangauge be set to read in Imperial gallons or litres?
U.S gallons are smaller than Imperial and it kind of confuses me.

Suggest you do not start messing with the calibration until you see a real pattern after 4 or 5 fills.

Just do the tank fill and adjust the $/gal and be done.

Keep a written log of the calculated vss SG tank MPG (for the tank) and you will see the variability is not in the SG but you and the gas pump....
