BTW, your hood looks really good! It's unfortunate that you had the issue, but man your car is looking sexy as hell.

Why does everyone put RS badges on their cars? Not knocking it, just curious.

With all the emphasis on hypermiling and fuel efficiency, it's interesting to see how low I can get... And this is just my usual city driving. Reset from full tank. The average is probably overestimated too...

Because they want this, but honda doesn't give the US the cool stuff.

Yeah i understand it's a nicer trim that isn't available to the US but don't you think it's pretty ricey? It's like putting an SI badge on a civic LX or Type R badge on something that isn't a type R.

People will do whatever they want to their car I just don't get it. Their is definitely some nice builds here but there's a lot of rice on these forums. Not saying the above car with RS badge is. *flame proof suit is on*

The technicality is that the USDM Fit has the same 1.5 L motor as the JDM RS. Hence, same horsepower same blah blah. There are different engine trims in Japan that is not the RS. Japan just failed to put an RS emblem on USDM Fits.

Civic LX on the other hand does not have the same motor or HP as the Civic Type R or even an SI. Hence it will indeed be ricey to put on a Type R emblem.

That's a GK. This is the GE8 thread.

Here's a more appropriate pic of an RS

I think you're looking for an impossible answer in a hornets nest. I tried searching a definition of jdm, watched videos and read articles. What I took away from my research was that it's like a cross between emulating Japanese car culture, racing and personal artistic expression. Severe cases aside I think rice is in the eye of the beholder.

Because I like to go road sailing or my car is Really Slow?

But seriously it's like what ryu said... We get the same engine as their rs model.. Side skirts are same.. Even the wheels in the above pic.. Front/rear bumpers will not fit without a lot of mods..

In the end I like it

Isnt the rs 6mt while the usdm is only 5mt? So really the engine is the only thing thats the same.

Depends on the year of the RS whether it came with a 5MT or a 6MT, but speaking of the transmissions, the gearing is different between the JDM and USDM no matter if 5 or 6MT, though some of the gears are the same between the 3 of them.

Hi FamilyWagon,
at the beginning on your initial post about this topic above
you wrote: "Not Knocking It, Just Curious",

after someone give a reply,
then you wrote that "don't you think it's pretty ricey"

So I think there is a contradiction there...
you went from "Not Knocking it" to well... "knocking it" hahaha

That is ok,
everybody had different taste and style,
and this is typical in every internet forum,
so I understand your position
(beside you already have your flame proof suit on hahaha)

In fact,
I actually want to say Thank You to you for giving me INSPIRATION.

See, California just decided to REISSUE an Old School 1960's license plate
with Black Background and Yellow Lettering
just like this picture below:

and Guess, what did I just order???

Yap,
I just order the same personalized license Plate theme as above picture with the wording "SPEC RS"
I know, I know... hehehe
but your post really inspired me
to get that license plate, Thank You for that

Hopefully I will received it soon and I will post it here

I wouldnt mind seeing it on your fit alpina, you put so much care into the details of the rs that i think in your case its makes sense.

Haha I like that old school plate style. My opinion is irrelevant because it's not my car. So that why I didn't just say "rice" and leave it at that. I simply asked questions. Glad I can provide some inspiration haha. At least this topic stirred the pot to an otherwise not so active forum. If this was nasioc a simple topic like this would have started a full blown ego enraged Internet war lol
