What did you do to your GE fit today?
While most of you craze over JDM and other Asian goodies, I had the pleasure of importing a Progress Rear Sway Bar, made in the good ol' US of A, back over the Pacific, which arrived today at the importer (most likely the only one in Asia...
). Will go and retrieve it tomorrow. But before I install it, I may have a project involving a 4kgf/mm SWIFT Spring for the rear...

When I order parts from japan everything is in Japanese so communication to the seller is always a little difficult.
Definitely! I was hoping I'd have a couple other things, but replacing my video card is now a priority. Also the dollar tanking even further down makes buying from the US really discouraging. Must be killer paying for everything in pounds. I think we're at 2 CAD for a quid right now?
My intermittent battery issues came back with a fury starting last Sunday. Wanted to go pick up some smokes at 7-11 and lo and behold battery would not start. I was able to jump it and get it running. Drove around on the highway for 30 minutes and after that all was well. Brand new replacement battery from Interstate so it can't be that I got a 2nd defective battery that would not charge. I decided to order a Battery Tender Plus to keep the battery charged and I received it today. When I was hooking it up, the car started acting wonky again and nothing would work. Multimeter says the battery is at 12.88 volts so it should start, but it wouldn't. Been fine since last Sunday, although i've been making my co workers wait for me to start the car before they leave so I can have someone to jump me just in case.
Decided to look around the battery and the battery ground wire felt a bit warmer than it should. I unbolted and took a look at where i had it crimped with the 0 gauge terminal and some of the wires were pushed out from inside the terminal and they were black! If i tugged enough at it it was giving a bit. I unbolted the terminal and tucked all the wires inside and made sure it had no give. I rebolted everything back together and bam now it starts like a champ again.
Is it possible that what i had was a loose/bad ground causing my battery to discharge or my car not to start intermittently? I hope I found the problem cause it's getting annoying. I have the tender plugged in and charging the battery and the last reading before I left it was at 13.29 volts. I'll check back later and see if the tender shuts off.

Still, the novelty of well made goods manufactured in another part of the world is worth the premium.

Picked up the Progress Rear sway bar. And what an amazing quality product!!
The quality of the bends and welds are superb, and the metallic gray powdercoat puts Cusco's flakey paint job to shame.
Picking up the RSB from the importer

Super rigid mounting

I also purchased 2 sets of RAYS Hub Centric Spacers for my Volks RE30

There are more pictures comparing the 16mm Cusco RSB with the 19mm Progress bar in my build page, link in my sig!

i sure hope we're both right. the car started up 3x in a row (something i would never dare to do before) after the ground fix. the tender said it was fully charged this morning before i left for work and no problems starting up this morning and going back home. hope it stays that way.
FWIW i also think that was your problem. Black wires dont just happen for no reason, and seems like an obvious sign of a loose connection. Road vibrations could have caused variation in how loose it was, which is why the problem was random in nature.
If you keep having the issue, maybe theres more loose crimping elsewhere. My car once didnt start cause the ground bolt on the chassis from the - line had vibrated itself loose.
Anyway hope your issue is fixed. Sucks when your car doesnt feel reliable.

I believe they are the OE supplier for TRD. If Toyota uses it then you know it's quality.

Yesterday, put about 5 hours of TLC in on the slow beast. Wash, clay, compound, polish and wax. It was like 34°C (38° with heat index / 100°F) and ended up losing 2.6kg (5.7lbs) in water weight. Would do it again, because it just looks too good when properly cleaned up.

Test fitted the 4kgf/mm TEIN linear rate spring from my Street Flex front coilover strut that I replaced, with Bilstein Monotube damper to get a better idea on the specs of the SWIFT springs I need to order. This also lets me know whether the Bilstein can manage the stiffer rear spring, which as I have suspected was over-dampened for the original progressive rate spring. (BTW I contacted Bilstein Germany directly, and was told that the rear springs in the Bilstein PSS Kit have a progressive spring rate from 17,5N/mm(1.78kgf/mm) to 30 N/mm(3.06kgf/mm)).

The damper easily achieves critical damping even with the much stiffer spring. I guess monotubes really are designed to handle higher spring rates...
It turns out I need a set of helper springs with a 7 inch main spring, to keep everything in place at full droop with the Bilstein damper. Everything ordered directly from Japan and should be here in a few days.
