How much, how soon? Already selling in Japan, new models should go on sale in the United States in late fall, starting at around $15,000 — the same base price but topping out higher, thanks to the more expensive Sport option package.

I actually think they look better. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Also, they are supposed to have a dead pedal and a center arm rest in the 2009. Not to mention more HP and Navi option.
I don't like it, but I didn't like the 07/08 at first and now I own an 08. The wife wanted an 08 also, but with the addition of a sunroof, armrest, dead pedal, and Navi she's all over the 09s. Sure there is more HP, but that's because it's a little bigger and heavier. We're just waiting to see one in person, pictures are misleading.

2008 Honda Civic:
DX FWD1.8L I4 Manual $14,810
DX FWD1.8L I4 Auto $15,610
LX FWD1.8L I4 Manual $16,760
LX FWD1.8L I4 Auto $17,560
So if the '09 Fit is $1000 more, it would bring the AT Fit Sport to $17,000+.
That will be too expensive to compete against the Fit's class as it would be priced in the Civic's class.

I thought I read (here somewhere) no glass roof in US. Just spreading the rumor
I also am now on the top of a waiting list at a nearby dealer for an 09 Sport 5-speed w/ Nac and ESC. Can't wait to see what colors are going to be available. The general mgr said they should start seeing a list of what they can get around August.
I haven't read the whole thread, but do you know what the curb weight figures are? Current models are all ~2500lbs. I'd hate to see it go up past that.
Wheelbase, in. - 98.5
Horsepower @ rpm. - 118 @ 5800
Torque (lb-ft) @ rpm. - 107 @ 4800

I hope Honda greatly increases Fit production with the 2nd Gen. The '07-'08 availability was ridiculous. Most dealers barely stocked any even up 'til now.
Anyone think Honda will get this straight? They make zillions of Civics and Accords that crowd lots but where are the Fit's that are in high demand??

The Honda VP at the NY auto show said that Honda doubled production of the Fit last year to meet demand. Sounds like they are aware of the issue!
Looks like the us version won't have the skydome or the rearview mirror indicators.

I know it's longer, wider and heavier (+23 lbs.) but can it out handle the current Fit?
