This Road & Track article is guessing that the 09 Fit will be around $15k.

ROADandTRACK.com -- New Car Search - 2009 Honda Fit (3/2008)

This NY Times article is also guessing around $15k.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/21/au...ow/NY-FIT.html

How much, how soon? Already selling in Japan, new models should go on sale in the United States in late fall, starting at around $15,000 — the same base price but topping out higher, thanks to the more expensive Sport option package.

I put my name on a waiting list for the 2009 Fit Sport. Automatic with Navi. Don't even know the price yet, but I figure I can always backout.

Ugh, they can keep the 09 fit. I'm sure it COULD look good, but damn, it looks so close to a 5dr(HB) ford focus now.

edit: or a prius even =(

I actually think they look better. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Also, they are supposed to have a dead pedal and a center arm rest in the 2009. Not to mention more HP and Navi option.

I don't like it, but I didn't like the 07/08 at first and now I own an 08. The wife wanted an 08 also, but with the addition of a sunroof, armrest, dead pedal, and Navi she's all over the 09s. Sure there is more HP, but that's because it's a little bigger and heavier. We're just waiting to see one in person, pictures are misleading.

I don't think the sunroof or glass roof option is confirmed yet. Please correct me if wrong.

So if the '09 Fit is $1000 more, it would bring the AT Fit Sport to $17,000+.

That will be too expensive to compete against the Fit's class as it would be priced in the Civic's class.
All of those quotes are without the 635 destination charge, second the price of the civic will increase for 09. I would be VERY surprised to see the 09 Fit Sport AT over 17100 incl dest. Honda has not shown 1k increases over previous models(excluding new trim lines) on the last 4 redesigns(civic, CRV,Accord , Pilot). Also I know of no dealers who order DX civics we haven't had one since they made us take 2 after the launch.

I thought I read (here somewhere) no glass roof in US. Just spreading the rumor

What about performance? I know it's longer, wider and heavier (+23 lbs.) but can it out handle the current Fit?

Put $200.00 down on a 2009 Fit Sport automatic with/navi. Dealer says they should be delivered in September. It's refundable if I change my mind after test drive.

I also am now on the top of a waiting list at a nearby dealer for an 09 Sport 5-speed w/ Nac and ESC. Can't wait to see what colors are going to be available. The general mgr said they should start seeing a list of what they can get around August.

So for those of you getting the car, you're all very confident this isn't (technically) a first year 2nd gen.

I haven't read the whole thread, but do you know what the curb weight figures are? Current models are all ~2500lbs. I'd hate to see it go up past that.

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing that's for the base/manual model. Looks like it's right on with the previous gen. Honda's site says 2432 for the base/manual.

I hope Honda greatly increases Fit production with the 2nd Gen. The '07-'08 availability was ridiculous. Most dealers barely stocked any even up 'til now.

Anyone think Honda will get this straight? They make zillions of Civics and Accords that crowd lots but where are the Fit's that are in high demand??

The Honda VP at the NY auto show said that Honda doubled production of the Fit last year to meet demand. Sounds like they are aware of the issue!

Looks like the us version won't have the skydome or the rearview mirror indicators. According to these pics:
