2009 Fit
Looks like the us version won't have the skydome or the rearview mirror indicators.

My guess is, they'll release that in the 3rd gen.
Maybe it's because of safety regulations, but I'm sure they'll do some kind of redesign and do it.
It's like anything else, give a bare bone product, then a few years later add the extra features to spice up the product and in turn sales.
The basic iPod years ago could have easily been made to play videos, but they waited a couple of years.
Why are most Honda dealers still Fit-less? They still aren't building enough. For the 2nd Gen, once production is in full swing, I'd like to see 10-20 Fit's in constant stock at most dealers.
OMG OMG OMG NO EFFIN WAY, I CAN'T EVEN BELIEVE THIS!!!

THE NEW FITS HAVE A DEAD PEDAL????? WUT??? THAT IS JUST STRAIGHT UP BS
Reuters and WSJ are reporting a Hybrid line-up for 2009.
I wonder when production would have to start in the Honda
factories?
The one for U.S. 2009 may not be the Fit model from what I read.

BTW, will the new Fit come with taller gears? The engine turns some high RPM's on the freeway.

Anyone know what features will be each model? Or know when we will know? I would love a Base model with MP3 CD and AUX input. An iPod interface and a trip computer would be nice too while I am dreaming.

The South African 06 model Fit has the indicator lights on the front mirrors, so it is old news on the Gen-1 car allready.

Honda has never shipped an over-abundance of Fits to the US. Last year they increased the numbers some and by early this year, the dealers had some on the lots, but not many.
The increased price of gas has bumped up subcompact sales by something like 20%. That surely ate into any inventory.
And finally, many businesses decrease or halt production of products that are about to be replaced. They know that people know the new models are coming and so sales of existing models usually slows. Any existing models in inventory when the new ones come out will likely sell at a discount. I don't know if Honda does this, or if dealers purposely whittle down their inventory as new models are about to come out, but it's certainly possible.
I believe the 2009 NA Fit will be made in Japan.
That actually makes me feel better about the initial quality. My information came from some older info about the first generation Fit was being built in Japan because it did not make sense to ramp up a NA facility for only a year or two.
Hope that helps!
can't wait to see if they made it more fuel efficient.
Same here. Since my Fit will be used to travel ~200 miles per day with work, the biggest thing I am looking forward to trying out is the new seats based around a larger frame!
