Kungfury, so you basically got a free Fit? What did you trade in?

EDIT: Never mind, I see it was a Pathfinder from another post.

No I did not get a free fit. I apologize for the misunderstanding. My trade was worth more than the Fit. Because of that I did not have to pay sales tax on the Fit. When you trade a car if there is a negative differential you only pay tax on the difference. I hope that makes sense.

Hmmm................but if your trade was worth more than the Fit, then the most you should have to pay is the fees and misc taxes minus the trade differential.

And that's exactly what I paid if you read my post. My trade was worth around 27K and I traded even meaning I was not upside down with negative equity nor had positive equity. Because the trade was worth more than the cost of the fit no sales tax needed to be paid. Let's say my trade was 10k I would have had to pay sales tax on the remaining $7k+. I have bought many cars in my lifetime. This is completely normal. What are you trying to get at? The last state I lived in was SC and they don't charge active duty military any sales tax at all! So I have never paid sales on a vehicle!

The dealer I spoke with yesterday said production of the Fit is moving to Japan since the Fit is very popular there. Smart business move by Honda. That is probably why the price increase and the lack of availability at this time. If this is old news, sorry just got back in here after thinking about a purchase and now I am in the market for a Fit. The dealer did lie to me about "finding a needle in a haystack" when I asked about a Fit manual. I then went home and found a dealer 1 hour away with 5 manuals. Two LX's and three EX's. I don't like dealers

2015 Fit EX CVT Modern Steel Metallic

Here is a breakdown of what I paid at College Park Honda in Maryland using a Mr. "Q" (see Yelp) at internet sales.

Price: $17619 (includes freight)
Reg an Title $144
Electronic Reg $20
6% MD sales tax $1075.08
License Fee $135
Dealer Processing $299

Total $19292 (with out warranty)

Probably could've haggled a little more but Mr Q was making it quick and painless so I was happy to buy and drive!

I was talked into an extra warranty and got a little extra of 8 years/120,000 and 3 years of oil changes, road side assistance, etc. I normally don't do that but with the complex electronics in these new cars I figured it was worth the cost.

so, Warranty $1785

Grand Total OTD: $21077.08

I got the deal by emailing DC area dealers saying I wanted a decent OTD price and a "carmax" type buying experience. College Park beat all others and did not play games/beat around the bush which I really appreciate!!
I helped my recent college grad daughter buy it and she will hopefully keep it for 10 years.
Also used USAA car buying service and qualify for 0.74% financing for 3 years...I financed the entire amount at that rate!

Anyone think I got a bad deal on the warranty? I have a couple of days to cancel still.

This was mentioned in another thread. The Fit is not moving to Japan, only part of the production is. The Mexican plant has temporarily stopped production of the Fit to focus on making the new HRV. When production resumes on the Fit in the Fall the Mexican plant will make both Fits and HRV and the Japanese plant will produce some Fits to cover the Mexican shortfall on that model.

Explains why I can't find the white version of the '15 Fit.

2015 Fit EX and EXL

I have two prices offered for a ex and EXL.

EX auto 18200 and EXL is 19500. This excludes tax and title. What do you think of this should I be able to do better?
Also looks like EXL are not available like the EX.

LX CVT with no accessories or any other add on's.
Price $15,685 before tax, license, docs, registration etc via warehouse club car buying service.

The LX CVT's were selling like hot cakes at the dealership. For about two weeks, until last weekend, there was only single digit inventory in the entire state for LX CVT's. The dealers that did have them in stock were selling close to MSRP.

We purchased our Ex manual in modern steel last weekend.

It cost us just under $18,500 out the door with a 7y/100,000m warranty and no dealer extras. We traded in our 09 CRV, so only had to pay around $300 to IL for the privilege of living and buying in their corrupt state.

Nice! Your CRV must have really held it's value.

Mystic Yellow EX 6 speed
Price+Dest $17,400
Dealer Fee $75
DMV Fees $197
State Inspection $10
Tire disposal Fee $10
NYS TAX 8.75% 1,522.50
OTD Price $19,214.50

I Used Edmunds Price Promise and True car quotes to get the lowest price first then I found a dealer that had a pretty low price promise but they didn't have the color I wanted so I went to another dealer near me and show them the email and the salesman went to the manager to agree to match it and they even went a little lower.
