a lot of guys ask this question, but how does your car 'feel' after having the kit installed? you ever time your 0-60? is the kit laggy? or is the response pretty decent?

I use 0w-50 Eneos Oil. Lag is there only when the a/c is on. Otherwise, she's a beauty.

sweet, good to know.

is synthetic oil required though? will your maintenence minder indicate how much shorter of a life span your oil has if you keep using regular? I can go pretty far between oil changes since i drive so much on the highway (at least 7500 miles) and i'm wondering if the intervals would be a lot shorter after going f.i. and NOT switching to synthetic.

that crap gets expensive. i had to put it in my rabbit, but it wasn't f.i. just good ole german engineering.

it may not run as well and reduce engine life more. but overall up to you how well you wanna maintain your engine.

gotcha. but its ok to run like a castrol or mobil 1 synthetic right? it doesn't have to be oil from greddy or anythingl like that?

pretty sure aslong as it is synthetic you will be ok. the reason for running synthetic over regular motor oil is that the synthetic won't break down as easy at high temps.

Im not sure there is any truth to this but i have been told by various honda turbo users that mobile 1 is not good to use for turbo'ed honda's.

anyone confirm this?

I dont know about Mobil 1 because that thing gets black every 3k miles on my stock motor. Eneos is a very good oil so far. 4k miles on it and its still a good looking color. It was rated number one is Japan. It's fully synthetic. I hear its good to change oil on it every 5k miles or so.

yea the only reason i use greddy is because i get a good deal when i buy it by the case at racinglab.com. also, greddy oil is approved by many manufacturers and it says right on the bottle "this oil was engineered for small displacement engines using an aftermarket forced induction system".

i havent done a 0-60 run yet. its barely broken in yet and id like to get a dyno tune on it before i start really ripping into it but at peak boost, my car feels really fast. like to the point that it feels squirelly. i need an LSD!!!

i like turbos over superchargers because the power is more like a two stroke engine. once you hit the powerband, it flys! i wouldnt want that kind of power at low rpm's. sometimes you just want to drive chill, ya know?

I'll test out the 0-60, I havent done it, but night time sounds good for it. I'll just make a quick vid.

LSD is great but on normal driving, I wouldn't want it. You'll actually hear the tires skip taking a normal slow turn. It will wear out the tires faster than normal as well. But if you want more power, go for it!

yeah i gotcha man. that was half the appeal of the kraftwerks, because its easy going when it needs to be, i just really like the numbers of this kit, and so far, the owners of this kit are more enthusiastic about it than the kw's owners.

how long is your break in period gonna be?

i am going to try (keyword TRY) to take it easy on the engine for the first 100-200 miles. its just really really hard to stay out of full boost when its right there. oh and another good thing about the T1R, to run 8lbs of boost it will cost around 350 bucks (wastegate springs and tune). ben is working on the map sensor that will handle it. should be done by next week after he dynos his car and confirms the fix for the cel.

does $800 plus shipping sound fair for the Garrett ar48 turbine and tial external wastegate? cuz i bought the T1R kit from alredcar without the turbine or wastegate, and AJR said they would sell them both to me for 800+shipping......

It's a decent price, but you can find the Turbo itself a little cheaper. The wastegate is already Tial.

is that for the exhaust manifold too? 800 is a good price. shipping heavy parts from canada is brutal!

Taking it easy for the first couple hundred miles is going to do nothing. Run your FIT like you normally would....baby n' it is a waste of time. By the way I am a firm believer in the "Hard Break In".
Good Luck!

I would not recommend it! I had a hard break in with my Turbo and blew it. Oil leaking everywhere. Had Ben replace that turbo.
